My gosh. Trump has build large buildings and various other construction projects. If there is ANYONE that is running that has all the tools at his beck and call to build the wall, it is Trump. Nobody else has near the abilities to get this done. I EASILY can see the bulldozers and other heavy equipment with contractors at the boarder immediately after swearing in and the first dirt moving the second after swearing in. Anybody who doubts this is as dishonest as Cruz.
The only discrepancy is that they assume the whole boarder length of ~1900 miles. There are about 800 miles of boarder that are already impassable by natural barriers.
Trump builds 90 story buildings, that is much harder to build.
Trump says he will use 44 foot prepoured pre fab concrete plank. Says wall will cost 11 billion dollars.
Mexico will pay for it. One thing he has not mentioned is we give Mexico 14 billion in foreign aid per year. So we just don’t give them the money and the wall is paid for.

I doubt they can even come close to getting ready, especially property ROW in that short timeframe
where there is no border fence currently in place.
How much money do we save to pay for the wall when we send them all the Mexicans here who are illegal and those in prison?

There was a 4.75% increase in money sent from abroad to Mexico, most of which comes from the U.S., to total $24.8 billion US dollars last year, up from $23.6 billion in 2014, said the Bank of México.
The bank said it was the first time remittances had totaled more than petroleum revenues since it began tracking them in 1995. Oil revenues last year totaled $23.4 billion.
An important factor in the increase in remittances is the jobs created by economic recovery in the U.S.Some 11 million Mexicans are believed to be living in the U.S. and many work in construction. Remittances, 97% of which are sent electronically, averaged $292 last year. Just like we did with Cuba, place a ‘tax’ on those remittances. Enough to build the wall.

Funding it would be an issue as that would have to go through Congress. But perhaps Trump could encourage that to happen right away using the “bully pulpit”. And then get started where we already have access and have planned on putting up fences (”a wall”) for the last 30 years that were never built.
Doing the entire border will run into lots of problems with regard to private property rights - especially when the cattle’s source of water is the Rio Grande. Although I imagine some clever diversions of the flow could be figured out.
Although I haven’t seen that type of stuff discussed. More just the Feds move in, take the land, and tell the rancher “too bad”. And by take I mean pay. But they pay for the 300 feet along the border - but that makes the thousands of acres to the north worthless, seeing as now there is no water.
Their (CNN’s) numbers: $10 to 11 billion; 4 years.
Context: California’s high-speed rail pipe dream: $40 - 70 billion; still mostly in the planning stage after more than 4 years.

He wouldn’t, especially if Trump wins in a landslide election. The HoR is only a 2 year term. Trump would make sure that anyone that voted against the wall was called out the next election cycle.
I will disagree with you on the contention that some of the border is impassable. Nothing given to the will and determination to do it is impassable. It may be very tough to do so, but to be more precise, impracticable.
And, the state of art for listening devices and sensors would be the ideal source to monitor those avenues with the human assets posted close by for QRF (Quick Reaction Force) operations.
I know we used them in 1974/5 when I was stationed at the US Army Electronics Proving Ground at Ft. Huachuca. They were actually quite amazing, even in those days. I can only imagine what time and technology has done to enhance that.
Cruz could hire Trump to do this, and I’m sure Trump would coordinate the contracting and make sure we had a great wall that did the job.
A Trump wall would be huge! It has to be long enough, tall enough, sturdy enough, with enough layers, and monitored so that anyone damaging/climbing/tunneling it gets caught. Then we need to track those who enter legally and make sure they go home at the end of their authorized stay.
I’m happy with either President Cruz or, if the voters prefer, with Supreme Court Justice Cruz nominated by President Trump and confirmed by our Senate (which would probably be happy to be rid of him).
First off when they send money back to Mexico by Western Union put a transfer of funds tax on them! That would be for sending the US dollars that are not being taxed. This would probably generate millions!
He'd have to get Congressional approval and funding before building it. So I doubt those bulldozers would be working day one.

I’d guess some of that will go toward paying workers. We have quite a few people looking for work. Dems are always crying out for “jobs programs” and should be fine with $11 billion for jobs.
Seems like these jobs are as shovel-ready as anything Obama talked about. Especially if the person in charge says “I want it to start today and be done tomorrow”. And that sounds like the way Trump has operated for decades with success.
Just sprinkle Legos along the border...at least nobody will be able to cross with bare feet...
But then we're paying for it, not Mexico.
