Cruz tops Trump in new national poll; voters split over Supreme Court vote

Ted Cruz has inched ahead of Donald Trump in a new national poll released Wednesday.

The Texas senator has the backing of 28% of Republican voters nationwide, unseating Trump, who won the support of 26% in the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll. But Cruz's 2-point edge is within the poll's margin of error.

Florida Sen. Marco Rubio comes in third with 17% support, followed by Ohio Gov. John Kasich at 11%, Ben Carson at 10% and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush in last place with 4%.

The results are a major change from last month's NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll, when Trump held a 13-point lead over Cruz, 33% to 20%.

The latest survey was conducted by Republican pollster Bill McInturff and Democratic pollster Peter Hart after Saturday's GOP debate in South Carolina....

show me all the polls you want showing cruz beating hillary. I call bullshit.

They lack all COMMON SENSE. Cruz is hated by EVERYONE, except for his most ardent supporters.

In a general election, he loses in a landslide. He won’t get trump, rubio, or jeb supporters. He won’t get crossover from hitlery or bernie. He won’t

get independents or reagan democrats. Cruz is considered a religious nut

which means he loses against anyone the dems put up. If you apply common sense it’s just so obvious.

Unfortuntately cruz supporters either don’t care or are ok seeing bernie

or clinton naming the next 3 SC justices.

“The NBC News/WSJ pollsters contacted 800 registered voters for the question on the Supreme Court, with a margin of error of +/- 3.5 percentage points, and 400 Republican primary voters for the Republican field, with a margin of error of 4.9 percentage points.”

National polls mean nothing if you cannot win the right states!

And what will happen when Cruz is declared ineligible by the courts after the Democrat party brings suit? It will happen and he will be ruled ineligible. What then? BTW, the Democrats WILL challenge. They will win.

They are a bit busy right at the moment. Give them a chance to compose themselves.

Whether this poll is anywhere near correct or not . . . it will be funny to hear Trump go on the rampage against it.

Calling anyone and everyone liars, and blaming a conspiracy against him. And calling these guys losers, and a near bankrupt company.

Well maybe he won't use the words bankrupt exactly.

Maybe Trump’s debate disaster had some effect after all.

There was a national PPP shock poll right before NH that basically had Trump, Cruz, Rubio all in the 20s. Made a splash for a day. Then the voting happened.

Hmm a professional poll by Qunnipac shows Trump up verse a News Media poll from the Cheap Lavor Express the Wall Street Journal/NBC showing Cruz up. Seems you are in something of a quandary here since the professional polls contribution your spin line.

But Cruz's 2-point edge is within the poll's margin of error.

Even you should see the humor in that sentence.     ;^)

Again, its common sense to me.

They've tried everything, focusing on Carson, Fiorina, Rubio, to get Trump to number 2 which they think will cause him to fade. They can destroy whoever is in first after that. Once Trump is out of the picture, the big fellas will coalesce behind Bush, Kasich or Rubio, whoever seems better at the time, and it will be bye bye Cruz. And even if Cruz somehow holds them off (I doubt it), it becomes a general election landslide, giving us another 4 years of marxists in charge.

So, we get this push poll.

Without Trump in this race, Cruz is 3rd or 4th and fading fast.

It's too transparent.

My hope, more distant than a few weeks ago, is that Cruz stays a decent second or third place heading into the stretch, and that Trump adds him to the ticket or at least to the team in some other capacity. Cruz would be a good influence on Trump, and give conservatives more confidence in supporting him. Trump would be able to appeal to a much broader segment of the population and change the dynamic of the general. They would make a good team. Sadly, Cruz has gotten a little aggressive in his attacks, and Trump has responded like he always does. They may not be able to work together any more.

It is unfortunate, because they truly are the only anti-establishment candidates, the ones who can dismantle the RNC and restore the party to its voters. See my tagline.
