“He [Trump] knows that this business of Cruz running around and using the phrase ‘New York values’ was not an insult to anybody about 9/11,” conservative talk show great Rush Limbaugh said on Monday. “Trump knows it,” he reiterated to his vast radio audience.
Limbaugh weighed in — perhaps more than at any time previously — on Donald Trump’s recent character assassination against Ted Cruz, who has skyrocketed into second place behind Trump in all national polls, saying Trump is making a “strategic error” attacking Cruz on the “birther” issue, as well as calling Cruz a “nasty person” as he did on a Sunday talk show yesterday.
Instead, Rush said that Trump should be more concerned that his tactic is driving up his already high negatives.
“I think Trump is free to criticize Cruz all he wants as far as I’m concerned, but going after him as a “nasty” guy and on this birther business, he’s gotta worry that it’s gonna create more negatives within his own support base rather than turn people off to Cruz. And he’s gotta consider the opportunity that it’s providing Cruz in responding.”
Limbaugh’s advice for Trump should be taken as constructive criticism by the bombastic and ego-driven billionaire. According to recent Gallup data, Trump’s net favorable rating is among the lowest of any Republican candidate, only bettering establishment RINO’s Jeb Bush and John Kasich.
Gallup found that Ted Cruz has the highest net favorability ratings of the various GOP candidates among both Republicans and Independents, while Trump does the very worst among coveted Independents.
“This is politics, and Cruz is ready for this and is prepared for it — and, in fact is dealing with it masterfully,” Limbaugh said.
Limbaugh contended that part of Cruz “masterfully” using Trump’s attacks to his advantage is the surfacing of a 1999 interview Trump had with the late Tim Russert in which he declared that his New York values, pro-abortion, pro-late term abortion, pro-homosexual marriage, etc., are not the same as someone who lived in Iowa, which “coincidentally” has the first true voter test with the Iowa Caucuses on February 1.
“And I will tell you, like I’ve said before, that I think Trump is making a strategic error in the way he criticizes Cruz,” Limbaugh said.

He doesn’t sue Cruz for eligibility because he knows he would lose the lawsuit and couldn’t play the eligibility card any more.
He doesn’t need to sue. He simply needs to plant the seed of doubt into the minds of independents and undecided voters.
Judging from the polls, it seems to be working well, especially when paired with Cruz’s penchant for lying and dirty campaign tactics.
Cruz is “skyrocketing”??
Net favorable numbers point to the general. Trump’s tactics could very well leave him with trying to win the general with only the 40% of Republicans and crossovers he won over in the primary.
He's trolling Code Pink & Planned Parenthood votes instead.
With so much negativity, where does Trump get all his so called support? Or is the media so scared of him that they are artificially propping him up in their polls? So far 2 states have had primaries with results no where near his so called popularity in the polls.
But is quite permissible for Cruz to accuse Trump of wanting to get rid of the 2nd amendment, or of wanting to rip out fetuses from the womb, or of lying awake at night dreaming of the opportunity to appoint liberal judges.
Rush should ask Hillary if Bill Murray has endorsed her yet?
‘Bark like a dog!’

Look at what they both had to say about those subjects during their announcement speeches. These were subjects that Cruz cared very little about when he made his announcement speech, while Trump addressed them fully! Same thing with trade, immigration & Terrorism. All Ted did was ask us to use our imagination and talked about CUBA....didn’t mention Canada, though, lol!

SHUT UP RUSH!
The irony here is Cruz didn't need to lie. If he had remained honest, he would still be competitive. Liars lie, they can't help it.— Bill Mitchell (@mitchellvii) February 17, 2016
I just find it odd that while the typical Cruz supporter is hyper-religious, they are utterly blind to his constant LYING. It's just weird.— Bill Mitchell (@mitchellvii) February 17, 2016
The answers you seek are listed.
Cruz’s MO this whole time has been to ride Trump’s coattails all the way to the voting and then unleash an avalanche of lies and dirty tricks to try and swipe the nomination.
I’m happy to see that it seems to be backfiring.
Gotta grab up those cross-over Bernie voters!
“I think he’s smart, and he has the best chance of winning support and maybe flipping the state,” Daniel Nadeau, 22, of St. Albans, Vt., said of Mr. Trump. “Bernie is my No. 1 choice, and Trump is No. 2. They’re not that different.”

“...on Donald Trump’s recent character assassination against Ted Cruz, who has skyrocketed into second place behind Trump in all national polls”
One deranged fool comment on another.
Trump’s “character assassination” of Ted Crus? REALLY? What character is there to assassinate?
“skyrocketed into second place...”? More like free-fall in the past weeks, as people wake up to what a liar the guy is.
But some people believe what they want to believe. It’s so weird about Rush, though - agree with him or not, he always seemed to engage in critical thinking. Here, he’s just let his Cruz-mania get the best of him.
It’s Quiz Time for Trumpeteers and Trumpettes.
Question: Does Trump believe that Cruz’s New York Values pitch has ANYTHING to do with 9/11?
Possible answers:
1. YES: It’s true and Trump, the genius, believes it.
2. YES: It’s not true but Trump, the idiot still believes it.
3. NO: Trump knows it’s a lie but it works for him.
“So far 2 states have had primaries with results no where near his so called popularity in the polls.”
He won New Hampshire about 4 points higher than his polls, if that’s what you mean by “no where near.”
“He’s trolling Code Pink & Planned Parenthood votes instead.”
I watched the interview. He was not trolling for PP votes, but only responding to a sneer by Jeb!— who let a woman starve to death — about a statement he made early on about PP.
Also, you need to get over the Code Pink obsession. As someone has already posted, Code Pink just latched onto an issue that was much in the news, and still is. Code Pink did not originate it.
