COLUMBIA - The window of opportunity for Gov. Nikki Haley to endorse a presidential candidate is closing fast, and she may not publicly support anybody ahead of Saturday's primary.
Only three days remain until the Republican presidential vote, and Haley, who told a national news outlet she would endorse by or soon after the New Hampshire primary, has still not said anything publicly other than to confirm it will not be the outspoken, brash GOP front-runner Donald Trump.
"I took my daughter to her first debate on Saturday, and I was embarrassed to see a candidate criticize a president on one of the worst days that we've had in American history," Haley said of Trump's attacks on George W. Bush, candidate Jeb Bush's brother, and his handling of 9/11. "And criticize the way this president handled it. That was a sad day for America. And that was a tough time for our president. And to sit there and put him down in front of my daughter, I didn't know what to say to that. There were no words."
"This is a different time in our country,' Haley said. "I'm looking for someone that is going to, first of all, keep the country safe. Also from a governor's standpoint, who is the one who understands the problems that states are facing."
Media speculation has widely centered on Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and Bush, the former Florida governor, as the most politically in-sync candidates to get her support.
The support of the rising star in the national GOP has been highly coveted by several of the candidates remaining in the Republican presidential race. But why Haley hasn't endorsed a candidate remains speculation among the state's politicos. Haley has political ties to many of the candidates.

I like Nikki Haley.
I like Bobby Jindal.
I like the four candidates I consider for my vote.
You said it - of the machine indeed!
I’m guessing it will be Jeb Bush - or Rubio
IF she supports anybody, I expect it will be Rubio or her fellow Governor Kasich.
Nikki Haley should think hard. She’s already alienated real Republicans by not defending the Confederate flag and other aspects of history. If she endorses someone and it alienates Constitutional Conservatives for good, she is OVER.
She has all eight fingers and both thumbs in the wind, as usual.
Cruz is the only candidate who can knock Trump off his perch.
Consider too, that a politician’s endorsement could very well be a self-serving bandwagon.
It will be Rubio or Bush.
And it won't make a bit of difference.

I'm surprised she didn't say "Resistance is futile"
Rude.
She’s a member of the Give 0bama Power (e)asily posse.
She’s an idiot and irrelevant so who cares what Nikki thinks or endorses? She is better than some Democrat being governor of South Carolina but this is about it.
MHO.... :(
That RINO in conservative clothing showed her true colors, while the Lt Governor stepped up.
Adios Nikki, ‘take the last train for GOPe-ville’.
We’ll see on Saturday if you are right or not.
Why does she have to endorse anyone. I don’t see why people care who endorses who. Is everybody sheep that they need to be told who to vote for.
I sure don’t.
