Tonight Donald Trump had a rally in Beaufort, SC, and while on stage, he repeated his campaign's earlier fabrication where they attributed a quote to Senator Tom Coburn that he never said.
The fake quote was identified and debunked by Jake Tapper, it was written about at multiple sites including here, and the offending Tweets were deleted; surely an admission of guilt. Even so, some two or more hours later, Donald Trump went ahead and repeated it and pretended that it was true in his ongoing effort to dishonestly smear Ted Cruz as, get this, dishonest.

Notice how CNN first puts it up there as fact and the guest has to correct. This, after it was CNN's own Jake Tapper who debunked the lie in the first place!
And there are simply no words for unhinged Trump shill Jeffrey Lord, who raves like a lunatic per his usual television performances trying to claim that the lie is not a lie because, after all, people don't like Ted Cruz. They rely on the adage "if you repeat a lie often enough, people will believe it." Which is why the truth of this post and this video should be repeated from here to there and everywhere else. The only way to combat an onslaught of lies is with an onslaught of truth.
It's truly despicable. There is no place for honesty in the Trump campaign. Just like there wouldn't be in a Trump presidency.

Why do "we" have to take care of the women, as opposed to taking care of everyone?

On the question of universal healthcare, Trump said: "I am going to take care of everybody. I don't care if it costs me votes or not. Everybody's going to be taken care of much better than they're taken care of now."
"The government's going to pay for it. But we're going to save so much money on the other side," he said.
"But for the most it's going to be a private plan and people are going to be able to go out and negotiate great plans with lots of different competition with lots of competitors with great companies and they can have their doctors, they can have plans, they can have everything."
Sounds a lot like to me like "if you like your doctor or plan, you can keep your doctor or plan". Where have I heard that before?
There are some issues I don't want to say much about. I support a woman's right to choose, for example, but I am uncomfortable with the procedures. When Tim Russert asked me on Meet the Press if I would ban partial-birth abortion if I were president, my pro-choice instincts led me to say no. After the show, I consulted two doctors I respect and, upon learning more about this procedure, I have concluded that I would indeed support a ban.
Note that Donald calls it a "procedure" and not what it is - the murder of a child.
On Trump's "conversion" to being pro-life:
He said: "Friends of mine years ago were going to have a child, and it was going to be aborted. And it wasn't aborted. And that child today is a total superstar, a great, great child.And I saw that. And I saw other instances."
Trump says he is pro-life because of a "superstar" child who could have been aborted.
Consider how he responded to a reporter who wondered if he would have become pro-life had the child been a "loser": "Probably not, but I've never thought of it. I would say no, but in this case it was an easy one because he's such an outstanding person."
To summarize Trump's view: "I'm pro-life because we shouldn't abort fetuses that may grow up to be outstanding people."
But opponents of abortion take a different position: "I'm pro-life because we shouldn't kill innocent human beings, no matter who they might grow up to be."

I take it you’ve never known someone who was a skilled engineer, doctor, or yes, even businessman, but a complete dunce when it came to anything outside of their field.
A skill at making money, or running a business, does not make one intelligent.
Depth of knowledge in one field is skill - breadth of understanding across multiple fields is intelligence.

Trump is not someone I can support. I’d have to betray every Conservative principle I have and I’m not willing to do so.
Two points:
1. Trump did say that a respected senator said that Ted Cruz was liar. Now, whether he intended that as a direct quote or as a summary statement is significant. That senator, Tom Coburn, does not have a statement I can find that says, “Ted Cruz is a liar”. So, if that’s what Trump was saying then Trump is wrong.
2. If Trump was summarizing a statement by Coburn, then it’s important that there is video of Tom Coburn saying that Ted Cruz’s methods are “intellectually dishonest.” That statement does exist. Can a person summarize that by saying that a senator said that Ted Cruz is a liar? I can see it. “So and so said that Xzins lied because he told people if they bought his beans they’d grow a beanstalk that would reach into the sky. So and so said that was intellectually dishonest, so that means Xzins lied.”
I can see it as a truthful SUMMARY. I cannot see it as a truthful DIRECT QUOTATION.
Coburn: Trump-circulated quote attacking Cruz 'absolute fabrication'
...."It's an absolute fabrication. I've never said that, period," Coburn told the Examiner. "It's unfortunate he would use my name to say something dishonest. It's a total fabrication."
"To me, it's more of loose play with the truth and loose play with the words," Coburn said.
Trump retweeted his social media director Dan Scavino, in turn quoting Coburn talking about the Texas senator. "He is, without a doubt, one of the most dishonest people in D.C.," read the quote Scavino attributed to Coburn. However, the quote appears to come directly from progressive website ForwardProgressives.com and writer Allen Clifton, who used the exact language to describe Cruz.
"I've made no secret of my total disdain for Sen. Ted Cruz," Clifton wrote. "He epitomizes everything that's wrong with the Republican party. He is, without a doubt, one of the most dishonest people in Washington and, in my opinion, a complete sociopath.".....

I have listened to video of Tom Coburn say with his own lips that Ted Cruz is intellectually dishonest.
They can tweet whatever they want, but I know what I heard and watched.

It’s a fact that Coburn said it. He’s talking. It’s his voice. Those are his words.

I am not attacking Ted Cruz.
I am saying that Coburn DID say something negative about Senator Cruz’s tactics. At the beginning, he said some nice things about Cruz.
I do think that freepers for YEARS have been great supporters of conservative senator Tom Coburn. He was disappointed that the Senate’s refusal to engage in a fight they were doomed to lose would weigh more than all his faithful conservative years. I can understand that.
Do I think they should have fought to withhold funding from ObamaCare? Yes, I do.
Do I think Obama ever would have relented? No, I don’t.
But I wanted them to draw the line in the sand.
Then Sen. Coburn should have continued to stand on principle and not wavered under the TV lights.
Honestly, I think Coburn was a good guy.
I wish we had a senate full of Coburn clones.
My sense is that it has been a war for those who have wanted to do the right thing.
Sometimes battle fatigue gets to even the best of warriors.
I understand but he ran to the middle and the media (to escape criticism from his constituents) and for that he got run over.
It’s to his credit though, that he is debunking Trump’s latest smear.
