The other GOP candidates are finally starting to fight on Donald Trumpâs terms, to judge by the slugfest that was Saturday nightâs debate. But it speaks volumes â whole encyclopedias â about the ignorance of our political and media elites that theyâre only now realizing that much of what Trumpâs been doing is just busting balls.
Itâs a blue-collar ritual, with clear rules â overtly insulting, sure, but with infinite subtleties. It can be a test of manliness, a sign of respect, a way of bonding and much more.
Rule No. 1: You can wince, but donât squeal.
Rule No. 2: Bust right back, if you can.
Not knowing how to play is no excuse. And not getting it shows you have no idea how a huge swath of America lives â the Americans whom Trump has made his base.
From the start, Trump targeted the (mostly) white working class, which happens to be 40 percent of the country. And heâs done it not just with issues, but with how he talks â the ball-busting, the âbragging,â the over-the-top promises.

Most politicians are ill equipped to deal with him because saying what they actually think is the most foreign thing from their minds. Their whole upbringing, careers and political lives have been built around political expediency, deceit, duplicity and lying to constituents about how they voted is actually good for them, the sheep.
all I heard from the Cruzbots in NH was just wait until we get down to SC where the voters are 65% evangelicals and the NY values don’t play and watch Cruz make mince meat out of Trump.. Now all I hear are excuses like it’s an open primary the voters are traitors and fan boys.. well call the

I grew up in Jersey about 10 miles from NYC. This is how young males interact with each other. Think young Italian guys living in the Bronx circa 1950s or any movies you’ve ever seen depicting young guys hanging around “the block” street racing.
Trump understands it. Sissified pundits like George Will don’t.
If you want to make a leftist feel bad about himself you need to throw his accusations right back in his face.
We have tried it YOUR way, O King of Condescension, since Reagan and we ended up in the mess we are today.
THANK YOU for that reply, these Cruz supporters sound just lime the elite know it alls we are fighting against!!! I am a VERY PROUD college educated, business owner, Trump supporter!!!!
[pandering to the lowest common intellectual denominator.]
If you tune into the Breitbart Radio News on SiriusXM Patriot channel in the morning and listen to the Cruz supporters that call in vs. Trump supporters, you’ll find your statement quite OPPOSITE of the truth!
Submariners have been doing this from the beginning. Can't take some s4it, can't keep focused on keeping the thing from sinking - then get off my boat!
A few mintues of good harassment can sort out who are the girly men really quickly.
Two rules - 1. Payback is a [expletive deleted] and 2. I will exercise rule 1 at a time and place of my choosing.
Agreed.
It is not only classless it is puerile.
I guess these qualities have more appeal now than in the past.
In my opinion, it is the result of cultural changes we’ve seen in the past 10-20 years (accelerated).
“Reality TV” is just one example of how this degradation has been implemented.
...just sayin’
I don't think so. I think he's using a principle of influence called "social proof" by Robert Cialdini in his book "Influence". It's used in ads all the time, "best seller", "number one", etc. People see that and say "well, if other people like it, it MUST be good". In Trump's case, I think he goes out of his way to hammer that he's way you front as a way to subconsciously nudge those with doubts (about his style or whatever) that they are safe in setting aside those doubts, and if they don't they will be on the outside looking in (the thought of which makes people uncomfortable).
The media does this all the time to prop of marginal candidates that they prefer. It's also the point of push polls. Typically the candidates themselves don't say it but Trump does, still the same thing in my opinion.
Most blue collar workers are way smarter than the so called college educated
Look at Bernie Sanders supporters
Most are living at home
“We have tried it YOUR way, O King of Condescension, since Reagan and we ended up in the mess we are today.”
Actually, since Reagan it hasn’t been tried the way I would like to see it. And acting like a looney Left wing idiot isn’t it.
This is what is going on. If they only read his books they would know what is happening.
Fight Back
Much as it pays to emphasize the positive, there are times when the only choice is confrontation. In most cases I’m very easy to get along with. I’m very good to people who are good to me. But when people treat me badly or unfairly or try to take advantage of me, my general attitude, all my life, has been to fight back very hard. The risk is that you’ll make a bad situation worse, and I certainly don’t recommend this approach to everyone. But my experience is that if you’re fighting for something you believe in— even if it means alienating some people along the way— things usually work out for the best in the end.
When the city unfairly denied me, on Trump Tower, the standard tax break every developer had been getting, I fought them in six different courts. It cost me a lot of money, I was considered highly likely to lose, and people told me it was a no-win situation politically. I would have considered it worth the effort regardless of the outcome. In this case, I won— which made it even better.
When Holiday Inns, once my partners at the Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, ran a casino that consistently performed among the bottom 50 percent of casinos in town, I fought them very hard and they finally sold out their share to me. Then I began to think about trying to take over the Holiday Inns company altogether.
Even if I never went on the offensive, there are a lot of people gunning for me now. One of the problems when you become successful is that jealousy and envy inevitably follow. There are people— I categorize them as life’s losers— who get their sense of accomplishment and achievement from trying to stop others. As far as I’m concerned, if they had any real ability they wouldn’t be fighting me, they’d be doing something constructive themselves.

You lose the game. You see the game takes real intellect to play. It is sort of like boxing - you think boxers are just brutes turning each other into raw meat until one of them collapses. If you haven't tried it you don't know how intellectual a sport it really is.
Yes, yes, pulling in double or more of your next closest competitor isn’t winning..... I’ll be sure to let the next team that wins by a single point know they lost.
Or the next Marathon winner, who only placed first by a few seconds in a crowd of thousands that they lost.
You are either the lead dog, or the view never changes.
Well, let’s see. ‘I’m going to keep busting your balls over (insert issue here) because I am resolute in my determination to do the job the people put me here to do.’
I think it goes quite well with the desk.
Oh, rule 3. you are in this game until the day you die or get out of my life, whether you like it or not.
I was not against Trump until yesterday when he jumped the shark and sided with the radical wing of the democRAT party. It’s quite telling the rest of you do not see it the same way. Maybe to some of you, it is too hard to let go, like when you found out that Santa was not real.
How long have you had these feelings of insecurity? Is there some special thing that caused it? Instead of vague generalities can you give us some detail of what happened that is troubling you. Have you always been so pusillanimous?
Thank you for shining the light of your wisdom upon me, great one!
Calling a douchebag a douchebag is not leftist, it is just being honest.
By the way, can you tell me how to hold my knife and fork at the table?
