( Vanity ) If Ted Cruz is the Republican nominee
2/15/2016 | mike70

've never started a thread (in 16 years), but I have a question for discussion.

Assume Ted Cruz is the Republican nominee. The Democrat candidate files lawsuits challenging Cruz's Natural Born Citizen status in two or more appellate districts. In one, the Court of Appeals rules that Cruz is a Natural Born Citizen and must appear on ballots. In another, the Court of Appeals rules that Cruz is not a Natural Born Citizen and cannot appear on ballots in that district.

Both cases are appealed to SCOTUS, but no replacement for Justice Scalia is nominated and confirmed. In both cases the Supreme Court splits 4-4. Would the matter revert to the decision of the Appeals Court so Cruz would be on the ballot in some states but not others.

To complicate the matter further, some states, California for example, span two appellate districts. If the decisions conflicted, Cruz would appear on some ballots in a state but not others.

What happens now?

Whatever. We disagree. I won’t change your mind and there is no way you will change mine. There is no doubt in my mind that Cruz is non US NBC. Have a great day.

If a state was going to take down a good candidate for partisan reasons— Illinois would definitely do it.

Wrong, and that is my point: Illinois is so corrupt you simply CANNOT COUNT on this state to make a GOOD decision about anything, period.

I live here. Been here since October 1977. Getting out of here June 2017 and am counting the days. You really do have to live here to get a FULL APPRECIATION for just how corrupt this state is, at EVERY level!

It is virtually impossible to be a natural born citizen of Canada and a natural born citizen of the United States. In what universe would that make sense?

You are absolutely right and it defies rational logic how anyone can make such a claim. It is indisputable that Cruz was born in Canada in 1970. His mother was American and his father was a Cuban citizen. His mother’s citizenship is irrelevant because birthright citizenship is conferred via the father.

It can also not be disputed that Cruz was born in Canada and held Canadian citizenship until he renounced it a few years ago. In 1970, it would be impossible for Cruz to even be a US citizen, much less a NBC because at the time of his birth duel citizenship was prohibited in Canada.

IMO) Cruz was a NBC of Canada. As to his status in the US he is either a resident alien or at some point became a US naturalized citizen.

That would be corrupt They have not done that.

Why wouldn’t corrupt people deny Cruz?

Perhaps because that would open a Pandora box which may again raise issues regarding Obuma NBC claim.

The truth hurts. I think once Trump is sworn in, you will come around. Sorry, I didn’t mean to offend you, snowflake.

I encourage Donald Trump or indeed anyone who wants to try, take this to whatever state authority you are advisd has jurisdiction, and make a serious and sincere effort to have this adjudicated. I doubt you will get a favorable result.

Rafael Cruz did not “flee” like those that were draft dodgers. Rather he left to follow career opportunities in the oil and gas industry.

We know that if Cruz won the nomination, the Dems already have paperwork re NBC prepared to take it to court.

It’ll go through the proper chain of courts, up up up to SCOTUS, but there are only 8 judges. They’ll need 9, so we’ll be forced to let Obama cram through his choice just so we’ll have the correct number of members for a vote.

Of course, I really have no idea how it would play out as there are so many options.

It would be nice if all candidates were eligible so this would not be an issue. But they’re not. This will make 2000 Bush v. Gore look like a Sunday School Picnic and we’ll be in chaos for months.

If Cruz truly loved America, he’d either (1) provide documentation with irrefutable proof of eligibility, or (2) leave the race for the good of the country. Americans have made great personal sacrifices for the good of the USA, why can’t Canadians?

“He’ll be painted as a ultra right religious nut job on every late night comedy show.”

The ones she’ll use most will have whack-job Glen Beck making his outlandish statements, and his father saying Cruz is “anointed” by God, and sent by God to be POTUS. Oh, it’ll be so embarrassing.

70 x 2 =140

140+10=150

150 is 1/2 of 300...

300 - 284 = 17

It's easy..new math

“Cruz couldn’t even remember loans he took out “

I am flabbergasted that people would entrust the finances of America to Cruz whose personal finances are abysmal. Ditto for Rubio.

I have never been a drinker or a druggie and, as an aging diabetic with kidney failure, I am not about to start now.

It is not too late for you to take up thinking, though! If you support the Manhattan Garbagemouth, I am not your "buddy" with a tiny handful of exceptions here and you are not one of them.

You came up with 17 instead of 16 but I can’t find which step you made an error on. Let’s just use Million Man Maff.

It’s 16. Cuz I said it’s 16!

“Cruz’ wife advises wealthy people on their private finances in Houston”

Makes a person wonder why the Cruz finances are in such a mess if she’s so great with finance. They make a ton of money, but had to get “creative” with loans.
