Washington Examiner ^ | 2/15/2016 | Paige Winfield Cunningham

Under a Trump presidency, Americans would lose their gun rights and religious liberty and see abortion rights dramatically expanded, Cruz said Monday morning on Fox News.

The democrats I am thinking about have no interest in the Bernie/Hillary feud. But they still will not support a real republican. Often they identify as independents.

The fear is that he might appoint a Kennedy or a Souter. IKE appointed Brennan because his business buddies told him that though a Democrat he was pro-business. Turned out to be one of Ike’s real regrets. A President has no control over a justice once he is appointed. Trump is simply NOT a conservative. He has invoked the name of Bill Buckley, but Buckley could not stand the guy. said he was a demagogue. They come in several styles, of course. Demosthenes was a demagogue. Trump is a rabble-rouser.

Very witty reply!   I guess he's waiting for the Florida primary to bag one of his Florida opponents. LOL.

I have the same news for you that I have for many other posters on this thread: there is no perfect candidate. Every candidate, even Cruz, would make critical errors in office. Every Republican president in the past century since Eisenhower had justices turn left on him. Now that the leftists have packed the law schools with marxists and filled the federal judiciary with activists, the pipeline itself is corrupted and finding a reliably conservative justice will be difficult for ANY president, even Cruz. Look what happened with Roberts, whom Cruz admired, at least in part.

The biggest issue is that any Republican wins at all.

After that, the next biggest issue is that the economy and the debt are ready to collapse us, and must be addressed forcefully with knowledge. Trump forcefully and knowlegeably called out these difficult issues -- first before anyone else -- and has the skills to address them.

As for his SCOTUS picks, many posters are ranting that he knows "nothing" about the Constitution and blah blah blah -- failing to understand that he sees the role of Chief Executive properly, which is to develop a vision and plan and see that it gets executed by a competent team. SCOTUS appointments are an issue where he would absolutely take advice from deeply knowlegeable team members, and it would greatly surprise me if he did not also ask Ted Cruz to be involved in the selection process.

Yes, it has, and not for the better.

Conservatives are a small minority subset of the GOP. If we couldn't defeat Obama last election we should be really worried about Bernie.

How’s it desperation?? These are valid concerns! A man who has such a checkered history makes his actions on SCOTUS nominations a crap shoot! I don’t want to crap shoot with the 2nd Amendment, religious liberty, and pro life issues. The nominations by Cruz would be dependable, even you Trump people will admit that. Can’t you absolutely say the same about Trump’s? What about his liberal sister? A man like Trump might just name her. The Supreme Court is everything here. If it is secured by the lib/socialists our nation is through.

That’s all they got because they can only ‘regurgitate’ what Trump says...and he regurgitates the liberal demorats lines....so there you have it!

Heck the demorats don’t have to destroy our chances of winning the general....these guys will do it for them if they keep carrying their water.

The utter hypocrisy of the Trumpsters saying they’re fighting the “establishment” ...just who do they think Trump is and caters to?....... Every property and real estate venture he has plastered his name on works for the elites.....from the luxury Hotels to the golf courses...to who he wines and dines with.....he’s their servant to make their business and recreational dreams fly...and they him...it’s a match made for the elites, both political, business wise, and Hollywood Style..

Heck even in the debate audience he cut down for being establishment cronies he said “they’re my friends, I know these guys....did you see my friend there winking and waving at me while he was booing” as Trump har har har’s with laughter...........Trump shows utter contempt to his supporters and they can’t see it.

women who procure the services of abortionists to kill their own children because they would be “inconvenient” or “untimely” are never mentioned or called the murderers that they are. Why?

Because they can vote.

As a result, the issue of who will pick Supreme Court Justices is a major.

The President gets to place a name before the Senate, what ever happens after that is entirely up the the Senate Majority leader.

That was a technical ruling. Alito backed her up on it.

The truth is, FR has seen brutal primary battles before, where everybody thinks their guy is the only true conservative and people who support someone else are the devil.

Lighten up Francis.

“Nope, no lies here, except from your messiah Trump. Who uses Twitter incessantly, to smear Ted with lies and bogus accusations, to ruin his credibility. I will give him this, he is using Alinsky tactics, very well.”

Trump is no Messiah.
Trump is no Angel.
Trump will stoop very low when needed.
Trump will not take the high road, because in today’s political climate, the high road always leads to a cliff.
The enemy uses Alinsky tactics, fight fire with fire.
Trump always returns fire, always.
I want a fighter, not a sniveling coward that allows to be mocked and challenged. It is that sort that has caused the Republic to be teetering on the brink of destruction.

I am principled enough to support whoever wins the nomination because at all costs, the Red Threat must be stopped now...or never.
In the past I have had to vote for far worse than Trump in futile attempts to stop the madness.
As a party, never, never, attack the front runner...that is what makes a winning team.
Should Trump lose his front running status then my commentaries and parodies will change.
Trump is not a conservative. But the fact is, a true conservative will lose the General Election.
I believe Trump will build a wall, and will attempt to bring jobs back and inject nationalism into a world that insists on Globalism.
If that means we need to compromise on other issues, for the time being, I’ll buy it. We must take what we can get and live to fight another day.
Any other attitude will result in the end of the grand experiment that the Founders devised. A Republic, for which it stands, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. That is what I hope to preserve for my grand children.
