“I think there is something in his medical record that led them to believe his death may have been imminent. Also I think there was something there the family didn’t want made public.”

Your theory looks to be the closest. His wife was a conservative activist and he had nine kids, many, if not all, adults. If any of them suspected foul play, he or she would have demanded an autopsy. Absent that kind of a family demand, I don’t see how this can go anywhere.

His own doctor said he had multiple problems. So we can be pretty sure he was taking a bunch of meds. They talked to the doctor before declaring probable cause. In other words....there wasn't one damn suspicious thing...

He said he had a vigorous and long day and wanted to go to bed. God was kind to him and his family.

I tried to think what I would want if my father or husband were such an important Justice in American history. I would want the focus to be on his legacy- friends, family, and work - not that the had XYZ maladies. I wouldn’t want him all cut up for the casket viewing.

The problem is..the bungled circumstances in some podunk area has turned it into a murder mystery with the words “pillow on top of his head” forever linked to Scalia.

Not necessarily. In fact, one could draw the opposite conclusion.
