Trump certainly sound like Obama when he was talking about George Bush. If there weren’t WMD’s how did Saddam Hussein use them? Why did we keep finding left overs for many years to come? Yes, Saddam exaggerated what he had, but there was enough WMD’s to worry about. Plus I don’t know anyone even on the liberal side that blames Bush for 9-11. That was just way off. This really could be Trump’s downfall.

Six of the world’s best intelligence agencies, the Democrat opposition, and Saddam’s own documents all claimed he had WMDs. If you were president, you would go against all of that?

To those who actually were in the intelligence community during the period in question, “Bush Lied” is a shortened version of: “Bush really wanted to get Saddam because Saddam had tried to kill his father, and everyone fell for intelligence generated by an Iranian agent provocateur who was able to also fool the Israeli intelligence services, too, so that it looked like the WMD intelligence came from two sources when, in fact, it was only from one phony source.”
The point is that GWB really, really wanted to get Saddam and he used 9/11 and the WMD flap as an excuse to do it. What made it a disaster was that there was no effective plan of what to do after we won. “Let them loot!” is not a useful occupation strategy. Ambassador Crocker was an idiot. The de-Baathification debacle returned the country to tribal anarchy. The Marines in Al Anbar province were able to co-opt the tribal structure into a more cohesive government, but central government screwed that up and it has never recovered.
So Bush lied, some of my friends died, is easier way to sum up the Iraq invasion.
FWIW, I didn't like what Trump said either re Bush. I don't believe for a minute that Bush lied to get us into war and in the end there were WMD's found in Iraq.
Why Bush came out and said there were not boggles my mind, but it does show me he would say it to play the political game.
I think it is understandable that Donald Trump, after losing hundreds of friends when the World Trade center came down, thinks that George W. Bush did not keep us safe.
I think this comes from the heart, and not from some idea that he will say anything to get elected.
