Donald Trump says a lot of things. We've become all too used to that now. Some of these things should probably be taken with a grain of salt - "Only Rosie O'Donnell" comes to mind - but some deserve to be analyzed more closely.

We know he (until yesterday) was not a fan of Scalia and that he think someone like his radical pro-abortion activist judge sister is a good example, even if he wouldn’t put her personally in the job. He is however a fan of Thomas.

Looking at his history as well as current statements, we know he praises planned parenthood. He believes in weak laws on ownership due to his defense of Kelo. He supported firearm bans for a long time. He believes in affirmative action. He sometimes believes being born outside of the US to a US citizen should keep you from being eligible to be president.

I have no idea who he’d nominate. My biggest concern is that it is totally a crap shoot. I absolutely can see him throwing a nomination to an Eric Holder type if he could trade it for votes to build his wall or achieve some other goal. I can also see him putting a liberal or conservative judge up depending on which way the political winds in the US are blowing the week of the nomination. The man has no core principles when it comes to these things. Everything is weighed against what he wants to achieve elsewhere.

Really think that is true.

With all of the positions and alt-postions taken or “truthful hyperbole”, I have no idea. AND think he wants it that way.

Also think his ‘supporters who know what he will do’ have no idea and will not even speculate. Do not wish to be on the record.

I “Hope and Pray” that he doesn’t disappoint his supporters too much!! That is my sincere prayer!!!

Take care.........pilgrim

A recess appointment would be temporary? How and when would he/she be removed for the ‘real deal’?

With the cases before the Court was wondering, how many would be decided with that configuration of the court.

Thanks.

Who knows? I know what he is saying now, and it sounds good, but who knows whether he is just saying that to appease primary voters. It is a little unsettling.

Remembered that and it was one of the reasons for posting the question. Personally, do not see him appointing someone of Scalia’s quality. jmho

Hope that he would!!

Had not seen that he was a fan of Thomas. That makes two of us! Also, encouraging.

Your last paragraph concerns!!!

“I have no idea who he’d nominate. My biggest concern is that it is totally a crap shoot. Had not considered that he might make it part of a ‘deal’.

Have to “cogitate” on that for a ‘spell’! Wow!!

OK.

That was a position before he took another position.

And with that in mind would you “speculate” on a nominee?

Thanks! Don’t watch too much TV anymore.

An ‘insufferable’ amount of propaganda there.

“Actions speak louder than words,” is what my ‘Papa tole me.’ Heard a lot lately!

Thanks for that information!

Take care.........pilgrim

[His sister is now a dead topic.]

The question is: Why would TRUMP even consider his sister to be a Supreme Court Justice?

Ted Cruz would do a superb job in that role...not to mention his youth being so helpful.

That is the truth!!!

Seems to be an “iffy proposition”. Edit: It IS an “iffy proposition”!!!!!!!

Even OUR congress critters seem to “grow” after elected. Just wish they would ‘grow or lean’ the other way instead of left!!

No matter who is next we have no idea the results until we ‘see’ the results. To me adherence to the Constitution is the important thing now. Another lefty and think we are gone.

Thanks!

Even Obamas two have not followed the mantra like “he” would have liked.

Like you say, this is the problem. They get into their positions and its Katie bar the door.
