GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump says he does not agree with comments from Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia questioning the efficacy of affirmative action.
"I don't like what he said, no, I don’t like what he said. I heard him, I was like, 'Let me read it again,' because I actually read it in print, and I’m going, I read a lot of stuff, and I’m going, 'Woah,'" Trump said in an interview televised Sunday on CNN's "State of the Union."
The billionaire said he thought Scalia's comments were "very tough to the African-American community."
Trump, who has supported affirmative action in the past but declined to say whether he was in favor of it today, said he has great friendships with black people.
"I have great African-American friendships," he said. "I have just amazing relationships. And so many positive things have happened."
In oral argument for a case challenging affirmative action at public universities earlier this week, Scalia posited that minority students who were not qualified for admission at elite universities would perform better at "less-advanced schools."
Scalia was excoriated by Democratic lawmakers, including Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), who called his comments "racist."

Planned Parenthood sells baby parts for profit. And Donald Trump defended them as being an organization that does a lot of good things. That’s what he said last night. They are murderers for profit and Trumpy defends them. They should be imprisoned for violating the law, and Trumpy defends them. It is what it is.... and he’s garbage.
I really love the dishonestly by freepers lately. He was most certainly not praising abortions, but it doesn’t matter to you guys if you can lie, well then you will just lie. For over 40 years the gop has continued this game of vote for me I’m pro-life a long long time. We haven’t gained one dang inch with that tactic.
Trump is trying to get the folks on the left that have blocked these bills to listen. See, if we can get these people who keep blocking the bills, we can then defund PP. Or we could do what we have been doing for years, you know, mock anyone that switches to a pro life position.
I really wonder how many of you are actually pro life.
Trumpy said last night ...again... that he supports planned parenthood and thinks they do a lot of good things. It is what it is.... if you say that, I’ll say you’re garbage too.
