Trump Goes Code Pink on George W. Bush
Politico ^ | February 14, 2016 | By Michael Grunwald

It was weird that an angry Code Pink-style protester interrupted last night's Republican presidential debate with a barrage of familiar Democratic talking points about George W. Bush - that he lied the country into a disastrous war in Iraq, failed to prevent the September 11 attacks, and even whiffed on an opportunity to kill Osama bin Laden. It was especially weird that the protestor was one Donald J. Trump, who happens to be the front-runner for the Republican nomination.

Trump didn't just call the Iraq war a mistake. He called it "a big fat mistake." And he didn't call it an inadvertent mistake because of faulty intelligence. "They lied!" he thundered. "They said there were weapons of mass destruction .. and they knew there were none. Trump even groused that the war cost $5 trillion that could have helped rebuild America's crumbling infrastructure, a common Democratic attack line that sounded like a canine talking point at a feline convention, especially in military-heavy South Carolina.

Trump lost me on this. The limited intell Bush had at the time about chemical weapons from a worst case military point of view had to be assumed correct and acted upon. Our
troops did a hell of a job and were greeted as saviors from Hussein by the populace, remember their joy when his statue was pulled down. Our mistake at this point was appointing a civilian, Bremer to pacify the divergent civilian tribes instead of The military’s eminently designed and qualified
Corp or Army Civil Affairs, G-5 Section to oversee and maintain control of for our own best interests. Had we done so Iraq might be free today and an ally in a troubled area
that might have negated the violent Muslim surge toward a Caliphate.

“The limited intell Bush had at the time about chemical weapons from a worst case military point of view had to be assumed correct and acted upon.”

So you are saying that it is OK to start 15 years of killing and maiming based limited intel?
Poorly planned and thought out venture.
Like Colin Powell also said...You break it you own it. Well the Bushes and present republicans own it, and its severly broken.
We always tell Obama to call it waht it is. its now our time to admit and call it what it is.

What Trump did is give the republican party a good enema last night. The truth sell set you free!
Go Trump Go!

He said we didn’t find any. That was because we spent so much time trying to get “permission” to go look, they had been moved. Powell even made a point that as the inspectors were coming in the front door, the WMD were going out the back door. We can thank Democrat obstructionism for most of that, they were trying to protect their hero, the first black president, Bill Clinton.

No. What Trump did was echo lefty talking points and "FReepers" are cheering.

On-the-Run Terrorist Group ISIS Seizes Non-Existent Stockpile of WMDs in the "Over" Iraq War

Saddam era WMDs captured in Iraq by ISIS

Do Reports of WMD Found in Iraq Vindicate George W. Bush? WMD were found in Iraq but does it matter?

Exactly. I am not going to allow the Trump punks on FR to degrade what my son and thousands of other peoples sons, daughters, husbands and wives fought for simply because they want to support a miserable, loud mouthed, cheating bully.

Trump put the final nail in the coffin last night with me when he went after GWB and the war in Iraq. He is nothing but Code Pink trash.

“Fact: The World Trade Center/Pentagon was attacked on Bush’s watch. The meme that “he protected us” is a blatant lie on its face.”

Unless you are totally perfect, with total foresight, you need to take that back. No one can offer 100% protection, but he did take steps that made us SAFER than we would have been without them. The invasion of Iraq and our killing uncounted thousands of extremists there and in Afghanistan did wonders for our safety.

“So you are saying that it is OK to start 15 years of killing and maiming based limited intel?”

Are you saying we should do nothing until we have total knowledge?

I flew over Iraq during the decade before the Second Gulf War. We did not have perfect intelligence. No one EVER does.

“The truth sell [sic] set you free! Go Trump Go!”

Trump doesn’t know the truth. His arguments were infantile, and it would be terrifying to have such an idiot as President - just as I find it terrifying to have Obama guiding our foreign policy. You cannot fix stupid, and Trump is STUPID on foreign policy.

I don’t expect perfection for any human, but I expect more intelligence than Trump displayed last night! We don’t need a Code Pink President!

No argument. Just don’t say, “He kept us safe,” when he didn’t.

No argument. Just don't say, "He kept us safe," when he didn't.

Since your signup date is Aug 27, 2015, I have two names for you, Jamie Gorelick and Bill Clinton.

The Gorelick Wall

The Gorelick memo of 1995 erected a "wall" between counter-intelligence and law enforcement, which impeded investigation of al Qaeda in the run-up to the 9/11 attacks. Jamie Gorelick, then working as Deputy Attorney General under Janet Reno was author of the memo.

“Trump put the final nail in the coffin last night with me when he went after GWB and the war in Iraq. He is nothing but Code Pink trash.”

Agreed. It is bad enough that an idiot Democrat President has squandered almost everything that was gained. But it is worse when I see Freepers and the leading “Republican” candidate echoing Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi! I remember when “Bush lied; People died!” was considered repulsive on FreeRepublic. Now I find it being chanted by Trump and his Trumpbots.

Trump boasted he could murder someone and retain his support. I think he could have sex with Nancy Pelosi and Hillary Clinton on pay per view TV, and his supporters would cheer him on...”At least he’s screwing them! What a stud!”

The Bush family is rotten. Trump is just pointing that out in his campaign style.

"Fact: The World Trade Center/Pentagon was attacked on Bush's watch. The meme that "he protected us" is a blatant lie on its face."

Unavoidably true. Which is not the same as stating he's "responsible" for the attacks, like Jeb immediately tries to do insinuate.

I agree. This is what happens when emotion takes the place of thoughtfulness and fact. We saw the same thing with Obama. It’s scary, like being in the middle of “The Invasion of the Body Snatchers” or something.
