Sens. Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz got into a heated exchange about immigration reform at the Republican presidential debate on Saturday—with Cruz firing back in Spanish in an attempt to get in the last word.
Cruz had again accused Rubio of supporting “amnesty” in the U.S. Senate, accusing the junior Senator from Florida of saying so in an interview on the Spanish-language television network Univision.
That’s when things got nasty—and bilingual.
“I don’t know how he knows what I said on Univision because he doesn’t speak Spanish,” Rubio retorted.
Cruz then responded in Spanish, taunting Rubio. “Ahora mismo, díselo en Español si tu quieres” the Senator from Texas said, which roughly translates to “Right now, say it in Spanish. If you want.”

Good point, although Cruz himself said he does not speak Spanish. He did pretty well though, and leveled one of the best of the night at Rubio.
I have no problem with Spanish, it is a language I have always liked and when it was safer I loved going South of the Border for a few of those lime flavored tequila beverages.
Rafael is fluent in English, which he learned as a second language. Marco is bilingual, learning both as a child.
My maternal grandfather is like Rafael. He came to this country as a young man from Italy and learned English as a second language. My mother is like Marco, as she learned both English and Italian as a child.
If I may share an immigrant story, one day my aunt Angie (who was older than my mother by a few years) came home from school crying. She was taunted by her classmates because she didn’t speak English well. My grandfather announced from now on we will only speak English in this house. He said that in Italian.
One of my mother’s older brothers served with Patton’s Third Army during WWII, and another with the 82nd Airborne Division during that war. After the war was over, they found out that one had rescued the other at Bastogne.
And so scientific. LOL.
Best part of the ‘Slug Fest’
When Cruz answered Spanish - it totally flummoxed Rubio -
Ludicrous Trump was wall to wall disaster the whole debate.
BINGO
Agree. What did two Cuban’s (one Canadian Cuban) speaking Spanish to each other in the debate prove?
“Rubio proved he is latino first with that remark.
“Cruz proved he is American first.”
+1
The best three words I can describe Trump’s performance is repetitive erratic recklessness.

Was that supposes to be a slam? Meaning that people who do not speak Spanish are somehow inferior? Either that or he is not aware of translators.
Rubio was talking about this: When Cruz' opponent in 2012 wanted to debate in Spanish, Cruz refused, saying he barely spoke Spanish at all.
The consensus was he was afraid to offend the Anglos in the population.

The debate was staged in the woods?
Absolutely! This makes my skin crawl.
Is that for real?
I thought Cruz was Cuban. Why would he speak Spanish? Wouldn’t he speak Cuban?
How can you understand what language he is speaking with that thick Canadian accent?
Ignorance is not a virtue...

Ted used it perfectly to make Rubio look like a fool.
If Trump would have said it you both would still be cleaning yourselves up.
Bingo!!!
