INDIANAPOLIS -- Donald Trump is weighing in on the news that Carrier is moving from Indianapolis to Mexico.
1,400 workers at the heating, cooling, air conditioning, and refrigeration company got word Wednesday that the plant was being relocated to Monterrey.

That's not the best way to deal with disappointment. Let the unions and the democrats (but then I repeat myself) respond with violence.
You could make it less expensive to do business this way.
My imagination tends to run toward smaller, less destructive government.
It's usually the other party that imagines bigger, more destructive government. Usually.
Thanks for linking the videos.
I’ve been undecided between Cruz and Trump. Months ago I had been leaning more towards Cruz but those videos are the last straw. If I had to decide today, I would vote for Trump.
Based on what Trump has been saying about these issues, I would think that he would call the Carrier People and the Employee’s Union people to try and work out an agreement for Carrier to stay in the United States.
Wouldn’t surprise me if he didn’t have them come to the White House to hammer out something. Not a Beer Summit or a Focus Group BTW, just sitting at a Table and hammering out a Deal.
Just an opinion. Why wait until they Move to do something about it? Who knows, if Trump does get in it will be unchartered territory outside of the usual Political garbage that has gotten us so far into this hole.
What would any POTUS do? I really have no idea. The DemoncRats will just blame the GOP, it’s all they have.
Carrier has just given Trump a 3% bump with this situation.
Optics, optics, optics, period.
Yes! So if you make $30 an hour, but the workers at McDonalds only make $7.50, we should adjust your food with an extra 300% tax. Sound about right?
And they’ll still elect a Democrat.
As an engineer the newly minted MBA is the bane of my existence. They are soooo stupid.
They follow the playbook of things they learned, set up their silly plan run it and it produces results. Then they get promoted and are long gone when the program hits the wall that we all knew was coming. We the experienced professionals have to pick up the pieces, and explain to upper management what went wrong. When you point out that the program was doomed from day one because it didn’t have a long term vision, the other MBA’s circle the wagons.
Tired of having the fruits of their labors confiscated by an overpowering British government, America's Founders declared themselves free and independent.
Most American schoolchildren can recite their claim that ". all men are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights ... to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." Less familiar, however, are these lines from their Declaration of Independence:
"He ( King George III ) has erected a multitude of new offices, and sent hither swarms of officers to harrass our people, and eat out their substance .... He has combined with others to subject us, ... imposing taxes on us without our consent."
What, then, did the Founders consider to be the real cornerstone of man's liberty and happiness? On what basic premise did they devise their Constitution? Let them speak for themselves:
John Adams |
"The moment the idea is admitted into society that property is not as sacred as the laws of God ... anarchy and tyranny commence. PROPERTY MUST BE SECURED OR LIBERTY CANNOT EXIST"
|
James Madison |
"Government is instituted to protect property of every sort .... This being the end of government, that is NOT a just government,... nor is property secure under it, where the property which a man has ... is violated by arbitrary seizures of one class of citizens for the service of the rest." |
Their guiding principle was that people come together to form governments in order to SECURE their rights to property - not to create an entity which will, itself, "take from the mouths of labor the bread it has earned." What was wrong for individual citizens to do to one another, they believed, was equally wrong for government to do to them.
The right to own property and to keep the rewards of individual labor opened the floodgates of progress for the benefit of the entire human race. Millions have fled other countries to participate in the Miracle of America.

With private property rights under assault by an ever-increasing body of so-called "progressives" who ignore the Constitution's limits on their ability to use coercive power to "take" "the People's" property for redistribution to others who did not earn it, the time has come for American voters to realize that, in the words of Justice Joseph Story, "the People" "are the only KEEPERS of the Constitution." The Constitution itself, in Article V, provides the only valid means of amending its provisions, and that Article demands the participation of "the People" in the Amendment process.
Sweet! If there's one sure way to bring money back into the country, it's to take money out of consumers pockets and give it to government, eh comrade?
Punishing companies for moving out is the wrong idea and is exactly what a socialist or dictator would do. Companies leave because it is too expensive to operate in the US.
Labor costs are only a part of the problem. High corporate taxes, Obamacare mandates, unemployment insurance, OSHA, EPA, NLRB, Payroll taxes etc. etc. ad nauseam drive these companies away.
We need to make America competitive by improving the environment for business. We need to stop punishing companies for hiring people and reduce the cost of doing business in the US.
Free trade laws left Middle America all but dead on the floor. The DC federation of frauds and the fat corps who own them have become super wealthy at the expense of America.
Bottom line, these SOBs in DC and their corporate owners have no, zero allegiance with America.
They will be treated with the same contempt they've exhibited for us.
But you see, that’s the problem. In a public company like UTX the executives who make these decisions are paid millions of dollars a year and they DO NOT want that to stop. So they are under enormous pressure (self-induced to be sure) to show improvements in profit and revenue growth quarter over quarter. After a while you’ve acquired all the competitors that are available, you’ve squeezed all the cost out you can, and there are just so many air conditioners to be bought. So they start looking at things that can produce smaller improvements, and where the risk is higher.
One risk in any move like this is impact on quality. However the MBAs who work up the integration plans have never actually worked in a factory, they’ve just gone to business school where they learned that a “headcount is a headcount”, and when they look at “high cost regions” like Indiana, the cost per employee is much greater than it is in Mexico. So they realize this move is riskier, but it’s the best play they’ve got or they’re at risk of losing THEIR “phoney-baloney jobs”.

My post above shows how simple jawboning, e.g. Trump convincing the UTX CEO that he needs to find another way to satisfy his shareholders and analysts is literally 10 minutes work for a President who is willing to do it. And I’ve been around enough deals like this to know for sure that the crap would start coming downhill after such a call, at light-speed!
If i were Trumps advisor i would suggest he sends a request to any of those Carrier employees that there is a free rt plane ticket, free lodging, Trump style and a funds voucher for small details if they would attend his rallies, show America how angry and frustrated these hard working Americans are.
Put them right up front, and tell the world he will fix this problem.
Remove the 300,000 bureaucrats from the Veterans Administration, exchange their withheld paychecks (and their bloated pensions) for medical care vouchers to veterans.
Laid off workers will know about hardship, after few months. Then they will get angry.
Our conservative talk show host was all for NAFTA. We believed him.
So Middle America is supposed to bend over and help them maximize their greedy profits while they’re being conned and betrayed by the corporate frauds who own the corrupt in DC?
You don’t think all these regs, laws, EPA shit don’t help the fatcorps kill and bury their competition in the U.S.? Come on.
The wall gets built, Carrier products coming through get red flagged, go into a 6 month long holding warehouse.
Same with Ford trucks, get your 2017 model in 2019.
