“We had somebody that was offended by the gestures you were making,” the officer told the preacher, “And that’s our job is to make sure that doesn’t happen,”
Cop needs to go back to cop school.
Also, it needs to be shown where in the law or the bill of rights people have a right to NOT be offended.

Freedom of speech = You are free to say what we allow
This is America; you are free [to be just like me].
My “But American” views have taken a real beating over the past seven years. Why would anyone want to support this?
If not even on campus, the college and university is doubly liable, in excess of the deprivation of rights under color of law issue.
Where was this? Watched the YouTube video but not Beck’s site.
Wonder if this town has such a law or if the cops just are writing him up because they think it is unlawful?
The two morons are only convincing people not to consider Jesus btw.
“Cop needs to go back to cop school.”
Wrong. Cop needs to be prosecuted and sued for deprivation of civil rights under false color of authority until his family is living in a cardboard box and he’s in a prison cell.

REMEMBER this is the City/State of Austin
Texas I believe. If so, it had to be very near Austin...or Houston.
Exactamundo. 42 United States Code Section 1983.
Is this a campus cop enforcing some campus rule near the campus?
That too.
It should be noted that the department voided the charge. Sounds like a rookie cop or at the very least, a poorly educated cop succumbing to situation pressure.
As an aside, this would be an excellent time for the ACLU to step up and show that they are truly for every citizen's civil liberties. But I won't hold my breath here.
Maybe some organization like the American Center for Law & Justice (ACLJ) could file a whopping lawsuit against the university for violating his civil rights.
Instead of asking for money, a settlement should require the university to make a statement denouncing “offensensitivity” and political correctness, and respecting the rights of the religious faithful to practice their faith free of academic, administrative, faculty or student harassment.
It should be widely published, and reiterated to students that they have DO NOT HAVE A RIGHT to *not* be offended by the free speech of others, and that efforts to shut down the free speech of others will be seriously punished. This includes any effort to disrupt a faculty or guest lecture or speech invited to be given on campus.
If that ticket does not get thrown out by the judge then all is lost.....for every American citizen.
Court OKs Barring High IQs for Cops

Not good enough. As I noted earlier, at a minimum the university needs to be sued. Lots of money needs to change hands here. Because a strong message needs to be sent.
