Beating Trump in Debate (NRO Delusional with Rage)
National Review Online ^

Posted on 02/13/2016 7:23:01 AM PST by Windy City Conservative

I have a little bit of advice for Cruz and Rubio tomorrow when it comes to defeating Trump. Some of the advice is tactical, but the more important advice is strategic. Attack Trump early, relentlessly, on everything, and never, ever stop. The tactical advice is that you should stop saying that Trump is for single-payer. That is too bloodless. Say that Trump was for a government-owned, and government-rationed, health care monopoly. Also try to work in the argument that Trump would give us the corruption of the Clintons with the huge government of Bernie Sanders.

Hinckley Buzzard said “NRO has been sophomoric from the outset. How could it be any better, relying on pampered been-nowhere-done-nothing prima donnas who have spent their lives writing opinions instead of experiencing reality first hand.”

I assume you are not including William F. Buckley in this generalization. He was an entirely different kind of cat.

Somebody tell me how Rush is conservative and Trump is not?

I will be happy to step up the the plate on this one but feel a little guilty because it is such a softball question. Trump has been all over the place on his “convictions” while El Rushbo has been consistently conservative all his life!

In fact, if you are interested, El Rushbo said that Cruz is the closest thing to Reagen we are going to get while Trump had no ideology. Said that this week.

The media and Democrats are same. One of the reasons I support Trump. Did you see how the media took down Rubio with robotic reporting of him after debate. He apologized after NH. I watched Cruz get flustered with Brett from Fox on illegal immigration amendments. Trump is only one who tells lying media to “sit down”. He beats the media, others cannot.

Even though you’re evading me, I would recall the defeat of Hillarycare in 93 (your candidate for the Republican nomination supports nationalizing healthcare), the Contract for America in 94 was a really big accomplishment that led to other accomplishments like welfare reform in 1996. Your candidate has never expressed any conservative beliefs prior to 2015.

No, he invites Elton John and pays him $1,000,000 to sing a single song. And calls Rubio, a “Full throated Conservative”.

It's “pathetic” because it is against your guy. If the shoe was on the other foot you would think it was brilliant. The advice is good advice. It is try to go after Trump with the whole toolbox. This ain't no schoolyard game. It is for keeps. You guys don't understand that there are millions of Republicans who are just as passionate for a “REAL” conservative revolution who are just as passionately against Trump.

Excuse me, I wouldn’t defend either of those things.

You just don't get it. Everyone knows all about Trump's past. They do not care. It is posted over and over and over. Voters are decided. Why keep posting it? To change minds? To make you feel better? Superior? Trump has stinky feet, they all do. Voters know. Do not care. Go make calls for Cruz if he is your guy. Posting same things here is banging head against wall.

1) You’re mistaken if you think I’m here to defend him or his choice for entertainment. 2) Your candidate has been extremely supportive of the homosexual agenda.

Businessman versus politician.

Two different games, with vastly different rules.

to understand it is not the same as endorsement.

conservatives turning their backs on a solidly conservative Senator who ran as a Tea Party candidate

For starters, senators have no business running for president. With zero leadership experience, they are wholly unqualified for the position.

This country needs an executive at the helm, not an attorney.

The advice is good advice.

Sure it is. That's why after 9 months of relentless attacks, Trump is now out of the race < /S >

Rush talk and the Rush walk are worlds apart. Actually, Rush appears to be green with envy over Trump...

There is nothing similar about Cruz and Reagan... I remember Reagan the media tried to get the people to hate and ridicule him... Cruz causes that all by himself..

The pending debate isn’t between Trump and Bush, (you know, the one who picks his nose) there will be several others on that stage. So, encouraging Cruz and Rubio won’t work as they won’t have claim to the only mics on the stage. I would expect the moderators will direct where the questions will go and THAT may be the way to get at Trump. But, BEWARE, Trump does not take this lightly and DOES respond, with vengeance.

Rush has also glossed over Rubio’s Gang activities.
If his amnesty bill had passed, conservatism in this country would be finished.

Let’s get this cleared up beforehand you embarrass yourself because I won’t have intellectually lazy Trumpeteers questioning my Conservatism because your candidate has a proven record of liberal positions that even won him praise from ThinkProgress and Mother Jones. I support Ted Cruz obviously so you can drop the whole pivot to Jeb or future make it up as you go lines with your Charlie Crist loving candidate that openly brags about his wonderful relationship with Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid.

“Somebody tell me how Rush is conservative and Trump is not?”

Well Rush has demonstrated and pushed for true conservative values since the beginning of his radio show in the late 80s and I believe held these values long before that. Values such as: Anti-abortion, strong military, support for troops, balanced budget through spending cuts and lower taxes, basically less government and government control in our lives. Rush was named an honorary member of congress after the 94 election republican take over. Mr. Trump during the 90s was contributing to candidates from both sides of the asile but mostly Democrats especially the Clintons. Trump was Pro-Abortion and remained silent on other conservative causes until recently. While Trump has been shown to be “registered” as a Republican continuously for many years, he certainly hasn’t supported the Republican party continuously during that time as he was a supporter of the “Reform” party and was or contemplated running as a reform candidate at one time.

Yes, Trump sounds more conservative NOW but there is no way that I compare him and his stands over time to Rush.

Bravo!

And then there’s this.

Little known is that, in especially blue cities/states, business has to contribute to politicians...NOT so they can do favors for you. But to prevent them from passing legislation that helps your competitors while harming you...and those who don’t understand this must live in safe, red places. You know, like Mayberry.

In the case of builders, this extortion is most often done with zoning, etc. My mom was a newspaper reporter and we heard about this stuff. Politicians would propose things that involved how many parking spaces, how much frontage from a road, the kind of lighting, etc. you would be allowed for your project, all the while approving “exceptions” for the guy you were competing against. You have to pay to get these exemptions smoothed out, folks.

I am absolutely gobsmacked at how many naive people are around here, these days.

There is a whole other world out there, people.
