It’s not you. I think the scalia death is weighing on his mind, and some old hostility (against the Bush’s - WTC coming down) is a preoccupation. He isn’t staying cool.
I think Trump derives energy from audiences. He reads them and doesn’t like what he sees in this one.
I also think the 9/11 question is very personal for Trump. He has talked of smelling death there for weeks. He apparently lost a lot of friends there.

He's never been good at adapting his stump speech content to the debate format.
His intimating that W was responsible for 9/11 isn't smart. I've no doubt some PC "don't profile Arabs" permeated the Bush Admin, but it's not generally accepted that Bush caused it.
Trump has let Jeb make this a personal battle between he and Bush. He is losing sight of the prize. All he had to do tonight was not get into a ***** contest with Jeb or anyone.
