Donald Trump has over double the voter support of any Republican White House hopeful nationwide, according to a new poll.

Over 4 in 10 Americans are backing Trump's campaign after his victory in New Hampshire's GOP primary last Tuesday, according to a Morning Consult survey released Friday.

...

Trump is also viewed favorably by over 6 in 10 of his party's voters, pollsters found. He has a 67 percent favorability rating, while Rubio takes 62 percent and Cruz 61 percent.

How many of these “Trump supporters” are really members of this forum and how many are trolls from the outside.

I’ve been wondering the same thing.

Trump supporters here have been told they can’t be Christian because they support Trump and you are implying the same thing.

I totally agree mocking Christians should be a no go zone here, because it mocks Christ, you are only painting one side of the picture, Trump supporters have been mocked lots here as unchristian.

When you lose your bias in your pearl clutching you will find I am much more agreeable to your statement.

I don’t make fun of anyone’s Christian religion. That is between them and God. You must have missed the countless attacks on Trump’s religion which is also between he and God.

I can move beyond Cruz father anointing him a king as I am voting for a president. I have a Savior. My opposition to Cruz relates to his votes for Coker and TPA and those he is financially beholding to like GS, Mercer the tax cheat, and Glenn Beck. His actions concern me.

Trump has never supported partial birth abortion. He has been pro life since 2011.

Wrong, he supported partial-birth abortion unequivocally.

http://hotair.com/archives/2015/07/09/trump-1999-mtp-interview-on-late-term-abortions-old-news/

RUSSERT: Partial-birth abortion — the eliminating of abortion in the third trimester. Big issue in Washington. Would President Trump ban partial-birth abortion?

TRUMP: Well, look. I’m very pro-choice. I hate the concept of abortion. I hate it, I hate everything it stands for. I cringe when I hear people debating the subject. But you still — I just believe in choice. And again, it may be a little bit of a New York background, because there is some different attitude in different parts of the country, and I was raised in New York, grew up and worked and everything else in New York City. But I am strongly for choice, and yet I hate the concept of abortion.

RUSSERT: But you would not ban it.

TRUMP: No.

I wonder the same thing about Trump supporters. It makes sense that conservatives would support conservative Ted Cruz though, so I don't understand why conservatives on a conservative site are suspect for supporting a conservative candidate. Also, FR has always supported Ted Cruz, so it's nothing new. It's the constant attacks on him and his supporters that is new.

Absolutely right. Trump is no different than Romney. A “tinker around the edges” “fix it” guy who thinks government just has to be “run better” by “smart people.” I thought Trump was an interesting candidate last year too. He’s a great campaigner. Unfortunately it takes a fair amount of listening to his speeches and interviews before it becomes clear he is a substance-free candidate full of hype, hot air and no understanding of what the conservative movement is, why it exists and why it’s the only antidote to the country’s problems. Trump isn’t proposing any true reforms that will make a damn bit of difference. It’s the same slightly slower march to socialist collapse that Myth Romneycare offered.

1999 - Trump was 52 years. He was not some college kid just starting to think about deep issues...

“what the conservative movement is, why it exists and why it’s the only antidote to the country’s problems.”

There’s the rub. Not everyone agrees a pure conservative movement is the ONLY antidote to the country’s problems.

“It’s all over except for the lamentations of the snake-handling Cruzholes.”

That comment is not worthy of anyone. You’re going to need us “Cruzholes” if your man wins. That is crude, just like Trump! And your statement about “snake handling” shows your attitude toward Christians.

That's the problem. He spoke negatively about Scalia less than a year ago (just do a search) and mused about naming his sister to the court. This is one of the things that trouble many of us about Trump, his ability to just change like a chameleon. He seems to have no rock solid beliefs, aside from advancing Donald Trump.

Do you really expect a man to say something negative about his own sister in the national media?

C’mon now.

“As long as you put out false statements about Trump you are not in any position to lecture others. Trump has never supported partial birth abortion. He has been pro life since 2011.”

It's convenient that you drew the line at 2011. Have you watch the interview that Tom Russert had with Trump where he proudly said that he was pro choice and in favor of partial birth abortion. This was not a false statement. Maybe he changed his position, but he certainly supported partial birth abortion. Go on youtube and watch the clip.

"but I’d hate to see the anti-government libertarianism streak of the Republican party be swallowed up by a more populist movement."

It's that streak that excludes Nationalism in many Conservatives and their voters.

Until conservatives adopt Nationalism first, they will continue to lose. And lose.

Remember, Reagan was a Nationalist first, Conservative second.

No, but I really think you should read what he had to say about Scalia. It should give conservatives pause. The next president will probably appoint 3-4 Supreme Ct judges. I have no fear whatsoever of Cruz appointing liberal judges. Can you say the same about Trump?

You are correct in your observation that the personal vitriol has crossed the line.

This Trump supporter attacks candidates, never fellow Freepers.

you are implying the same thing.

Show me what I said that implied that. It simply isn't true.

You are full of it.

It is an irrefutable fact that many Trump supporters on FR criticize Cruz for his Christianity. They post pictures of him praying. They mock his father. They call him a bible banger or a snake handler. The original comment I replied to in this thread called his supporters "snake handlers".

Me pointing out that those things are happening is NOT implying that Trump supporters can't be Christian. You need to work on your "if - thens", ven diagrams and logic exercises.

Jesus commanded that we are try and discern the truth. Looking at the comments of a 52 year old man when he says it should be legal to tear a 3rd trimester baby into little pieces, his lack of religious knowledge and his crude public behavior, one could possibly be lead to discern that he may not be guided by Christian ethics and morals. I am not attempting to judge Trump. Only the Lord can do that. But when I try to discern his faithfulness to scripture and the commands of God, I tend to believe he is lacking.

I am not saying "Trump isn't a real Christian" ....But even if I were it still wouldn't be comparable to mocking a Christian BECAUSE OF his Christianity in a forum that is supposedly "biased toward God".

To put it another way...

On FR it would be perfectly o.k. to accuse a candidate of being "not conservative enough". If you wanted to say a candidate was "too conservative" perhaps you should find another forum to voice that opinion.

Trump said in 1987 “ there is nothing wrong with American foreign policy that a backbone won’t cure”

So he called President Reagan spineless.

( while Reagan was defeating the evil empire )
