Donald Trump has now made clear that the thrust of his campaign will not be conservatism. It will instead be populism and nationalism.

Maybe if Cruz actually did or accomplished anything that stopped obama we wouldn’t be having this debate

But he did do something. Perhaps if the RINOs in the party would vote in at least a moderately conservative fashion, we wouldn't be having this discussion.

But what do they do instead - brand Cruz as a rebel, who "shut down government". Frankly, shutting down a good portion of government would help people realize just how useless most of it is.

Don't blame Cruz for the inaction of his fellow Republicans in the Senate.

South Carolina’s reputation for conservatism is exaggerated. One reason is I-95. All the South Atlantic states have been subject to an influx of Northeastern migrants. The Palmetto State has suffered less from Yankee infiltration, but it is still there. Additionally, there is a considerable native RINO presence in the state. It is the home of the heirs of the old plantation aristocracy in the low country. They are of English and French Huguenot ancestry with many belonging to mainline liberal Protestant churches. Upstate is largely Scots Irish and evangelical, many Baptist. This is the state that sent Lindsey Graham to the U.S. Senate.

That was a great rally. No other one else running is the speaker that Donald Trump is.

I like where he would tell Iran, we owe 19-Trillion dollars, sorry, we don’t have your 150-Billion. ;-)

Why did no one stand with Cruz on that floor against ObamaCare?

Maybe because they are all bought and paid for? Those are the GOPe we are all ranting about, remember? The people who are NOT doing what we sent them to DC to do.

How is it Cruz' fault that most of the 435 are screwing America and liking it?

Cruz stood when no one else did. That takes courage and determination, both necessary qualities of leadership.

If you put Audie Murphy at the head of a column of little college snowflakes and they don't follow him into battle, is that his fault?

Cant wait until after the SC Primary to hear them call South Carolinians a bunch of liberal Republicans and read their brilliant analysis of exit polls as they search for any shred of evidence that will prove their guy didnt get his ass handed to him in one of the most conservatives states in the nation.

I hope you are right. Unfortunately, there are many good conservatives who fail to see the SURE LOSER tatoo across the forehead of Cruznadian One.

And the best

Why assume that anyone who is popular will lead in a bad direction?

Reagan did not
Thatcher did not
Golds Meir did not
Eisenhower did not

Others did
Fact is in this country the most popular person will win the election ( barring massive rigging and fraud)
You may have to choose between trump/rubio or sanders/ Warren
Either popular

If Conservatism Is Your Only Priority, There Is No Choice Other Than Ted Cruz.

If Winning The Election Is Your Only Priority, There Is No Choice Other Than Donald Trump.

Shapiro, like so many others, can't grasp the fact that the critical issues of this campaign: immigration policy, one-sided trade deals and foreign policy in general, do not fit neatly into conservative/liberal categories.

If it is so crystal clear what conservatism is, why didn't Ted's unshakable conservative principles inform him how to vote correctly on TPA? With all the implications of TPA and TPP, his silly explanation for changing his vote is well, silly. Flip/flop, just one of many from the rock solid conservative.

Pretending that conservatism, or any philosophy, provides quick, crystal clear answers to all political questions is nonsense.

“the “Conservative Purity” bots will go into hysterics about it just like they did with Reagan.”

I disagree only slightly. I think ‘The Perfects’ will give Cruz a pass when HE does it, since he’s so Holy and all.

That ‘we’re better Christians than you’ group is becoming the group that puts Party Over Country.

Unless Levin/Beck/Rush declare you Conservative you are a liberal. Only they are truly Conservative and all else are unwashed.
