Ted Cruz’s Integrity Trumps "Dirty Tricks"
Town Hall ^ | Feb 11, 2016 | Lee Culpepper

Posted on 02/11/2016 5:34:37 PM PST by SoConPubbie

While Donald Trump, the GOP Establishment, and the media scramble to undermine Ted Cruz's march to the White House, Cruz's super-fantastic-third-place finish in New Hampshire suggests undecided voters are recognizing that dignity, integrity, and fearlessness are at the core of Ted Cruz's principles and leadership.

It remains an enigma, for me at least, how the Cruz campaign's decision to share CNN's breaking report -- which irrefutably questioned Carson's seriousness about winning the election minutes before the Iowa Caucus began -- turned in to Ted Cruz's "dirty trick."

In fact, the media, Donald Trump, and even Dr. Carson have done a great job burying the reality that caucuses are set up to give supporters the opportunity to persuade one another to get behind the candidate they support. Hence, the Cruz campaign's directive to share CNN's report. After each candidate's supporters make their cases, everyone lines up and the supporters are counted up in front of God and everyone else who is attending. There is no privacy to the voting.

Consequently, the real "dirty trick" is pretending that Carson's supporters were not immediately able to shoot down CNN's report along with the Cruz campaign's bogus conclusion about what it suggested. It's not like Carson supporters don't have smart phones. The entire controversy that Carson's performance might have been negatively affected is an absolute hoax. It is a "dirty trick" that is clearly being used to torpedo the proven Washington outsider, Ted Cruz.

Granted, Dr. Carson probably felt a lot like Ted Cruz did when Donald Trump tried to "steal" votes from Cruz by erroneously speculating that Cruz was not eligible to become president. Carson also probably felt a lot like Ted Cruz did when Marco Rubio tried to "steal" votes from Cruz by falsely alleging that Cruz is a fellow GOP amnesty lover -- just like Rubio still is.

However, unlike Donald Trump and Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz had the common decency to apologize and the integrity and courage to take responsibility for his staff member's erroneous conclusion concerning CNN's report.

You know you are dissembling and you have never attended a rally. I don’t give a crap what you think Trump supporters think as long as America finally comes out ahead instead of where we are with deals like the Iran deal. We have been coming out behind since the Clinton presidency.

Problem with that argument is that CNN did not tell anyone

In fact, Carson's comments were explicitly picked up by the MSM denying that he was leaving, and even the original report nowhere claimed that Carson was dropping out.

I saw the CNN report, and they made it pretty clear that's what they thought was happening. As Bash said, "Look, if you want to be president of the United States, you don’t go home to Florida. That’s just bottom line, that’s the end of the story."

Which, historically speaking, is true. Leaving for Florida at that point, and, more importantly, announcing you are leaving at that point, would be read by most as a pretty strong signal he's out.

And I still don't see why it matters. Carson should have had people at every caucus who could have stood up and refuted the story if Cruz's people were wrong -- meaning that if this was a "dirty trick," then Cruz's people would be immediately exposed as dirty tricksters right before people voted.

Must be about the most pointless political trick ever.

People who become naturalized have to go through a specific process at some point. When did Cruz do this?

Congressional grants of citizenship are naturalization. The grant may or may not require condition precedent or condition subsequent, may or may not require an oath, may or may not require a process, may or may not require registering an intent to naturalize, and so forth. Congress may specify whatever requirements they want.

Sure, he apologized, barely, for audience appeasement. Kind of like the 4-year old who’s tripped his little sis and wants to avoid repercussions.
But he breezed right by Carson when he was standing, unsure, in the wings.
I ask, WWJD?

No, what’s funny is that Trump supporters like YOU are so blind to the fact that Trump probably has the least integrity and grounded principles of any GOP candidate in the race.

The man is a serial adulterer and strip club owner. He has been a supporter of abortion and Democrats for most of his life. He tells people he is going to build a border fence and the “followers” jump on board the good ship Trump.

There is probably no candidate who is more crude and classless than Trump.

THANK YOU. I totally agree. The hate on this board for Trump is disgusting. These people back a truly immoral man and SHAME on them all for denigrating a man who is still married to his first wife.

It is not Ted Cruz who is backed by Bob Dole. It is not Ted Cruz who is supported, in ways, by Jimmy Carter. It is not Ted Cruz who is backed by Scott Brown. ALL THE LOSERS AND GOP-E back old Trump.

I answered quite clearly.

You asked: People who become naturalized have to go through a specific process at some point. When did Cruz do this?

And I answered: A process is not a requirement of naturalization.

Sure it isn't:

https://www.uscis.gov/us-citizenship/citizenship-through-naturalization

"Naturalization is the process by which U.S. citizenship is granted to a foreign citizen or national after he or she fulfills the requirements established by Congress in the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA)."

A person born out of the jurisdiction of the United States can only become a citizen by being naturalized

either by

treaty, as in the case of the annexation of foreign territory,

or by

    authority of congress, exercised

    either by

declaring certain classes of persons to be citizens, as in the enactments conferring citizenship upon foreign-born children of citizens,

    or by

enabling foreigners individually to become citizens by proceedings in the judicial tribunals, as in the ordinary provisions of the naturalization acts.

U.S. v. Wong Kim Ark, 169 U.S. 649, 702-703

The minor children of aliens naturalize upon the naturalization of their parents. The child does not participate in any process yet they are naturalized.

You realize you’re describing (treaty, authority of congress, judicial tribunals) “processes”
