Thursday, February 11, 2016: GOP Presidential candidate Donald Trump will hold a campaign rally in Baton Rouge, LA at the Baton Rouge River Center. The event is scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM CST.
As the "Capital City", Baton Rouge is the political hub for Louisiana, and is the second-largest metropolitan city in the state, with an estimated population of 228,895 as of 2014. The metropolitan area surrounding the city, known as Greater Baton Rouge, had a population of 820,159 people as of 2013.The urban area has around 594,309 inhabitants.
HOW DID BATON ROUGE GET ITS NAME?
The French name le baton rouge ("the red stick") is the translation of a native term rendered as Istrouma, possibly a corruption of the Choctaw iti humma ("red pole") Andre Joseph Penicaut, a carpenter traveling with d'Iberville, published the first full-length account of the expedition in 1723. According to Penicaut,
"From there [Manchacq] we went five leagues higher and found very high banks called ecorts in that region, and in savage called Istrouma which means red stick [baton rouge], as at this place there is a post painted red that the savages have sunk there to mark the land line between the two nations, namely: the land of the Bayagoulas which they were leaving and the land of another nationâthirty leagues upstream from the baton rouge named the Oumas."

At this time, I have no idea if the event will be in the large arena or the theater.
It’s back on the side bar. Just clicked here, from there.
Karl, looking forward to your hilarious gifs, on this thread ;-)
CRuz has somehow spammed two of our email addys....that we’ve never used for donations to ANYONE on.
CReepy.
a. Jefferson b. Jackson c. Lincoln d. Reagan
e, Bush (following Hurricane Katrina)
A thought; a candidate that feels the need to tell everyone how much more conservative they are than their opponent, probably isn't. Show me, don't tell me.
Really. Trump’s people really dropped the ball on that one. The guy should’ve been removed promptly as he was a major distraction from the speech. It wouldn’t surprise me if the speech lost about 50% of its intended impact. I thought his campaign was controlled more professionally.
A lot of us wanted to bash that idiot. You’d have to stand in line!
If you saw the segment on Stossel showing how Cruz is mining very personal data for his campaign, you’ll be happy if an obscure email address is the only info he has. Talk about creepy and unethical.
BTW, it’s the method Obama used in his campaign. So, Obama... Cruz... Obama... Cruz.
Me and Mrs. Repeal made it to the early voting location today.
Easy-Peasy with no line.
Yes....the similarities are, indeed, CReepy!
I voted today, too. Second person in line.
I agree, but I also think that what is conservative to you may not be entirely conservative to me, or what was conservative 200 years ago, may not be conservative now.
Trump thinks differently than any person we’ve ever had running for the office. What he lacks is polish.
He may not admit it in public, but he could benefit from people like Rove, Dick Morris and others. It can only make him a better candidate, and who knows maybe he does listen to the handlers.
But for now, he’s doing it his way.
Friend of mine did too, but he canceled my vote for Trump by voting Cruz.
Trump’s rally speeches are good and I always enjoy them.
I hope like hell that ASAP he will address the economy. It’s the elephant in the room, and impacts everybody on some level. Talk about it... tonight maybe???
And with Cruz and Rubio squishy on immigration; and Bush promoting immigration, Trump should give some mention to how America will be as Sharia law creeps in. It’ll impact the future of the voters’ kids and grandkids, and I don’t think they’re paying much attention to that.
I’ve cut back on Rush about 50%, but the last couple days he’s said some things I agree with. I admit Cruz probably is the most conservative, but he’s not the most electable conservative.
Limbaugh described Trump as a non-ideological candidate.
“Trump’s not a Republican; he’s not a Democrat,” he said.
“He’s running as a Republican, but he’s way beyond any of this. His definition of conservatism was we’re gonna conserve. We’re gonna conserve our money. We’re gonna conserve our whateverâ¦. Donald Trump is not an ideological candidate. He doesn’t look, for example, at Chuck Schumer and see a screaming liberal. And, by the same token, he doesn’t look at Ted Cruz and see a screaming conservative.”
Limbaugh praised Trump for creating a broad, new coalition of voters and turning the political system upside down, but offered little doubt about his own political leanings.
“This is not a criticism of Trump. But for those of you that conservatism’s the answer and conservatism is the way, you have no choice here. Ted Cruz has got to be your guy. There’s nobody even close. Nobody.”
“Really. Trumpâs people really dropped the ball on that one. The guy shouldâve been removed promptly as he was a major distraction from the speech. It wouldnât surprise me if the speech lost about 50% of its intended impact. I thought his campaign was controlled more professionally.
“
I agree. I hope that doesn’t happen again.
“He may not admit it in public, but he could benefit from people like Rove, Dick Morris and others”
Oh hell no!
You know who could teach Trump how to be more polished?
His daughter, Ivanka.
It’s way past time that we start thinking about what’s good for America instead of what’s good for the political parties.
Trump wants what’s good for America and eff the politics.
The other thing Rush says, which I agree with. He predicts that Bernie Sanders is going to come out for reparations for blacks, and Hillary will follow suit.
I think if these two people pull this on us, that’s fine. Once and for all let’s debate it. Let’s include the black slave owners. Let’s find their descendants and have them pay too, if money is to be paid.
That’s why I like him.
“Last night, I woke up and noticed this lump. Anyone have an idea what it might be?”
It’s probably a guinea worm. Don’t worry about it. It’ll work it’s way out eventually.
And they will never, ever, EVER take you off the list. Just report it as spam and eventually your e-mail provider will screen it out.
