"..economic libertarians and others who place a high value on property rights, the right to earn a living, and the right to open a business will find no better friend than Texas senator Ted Cruz...his work at the FTC established a foundation on which the cause of economic liberty progresses still today.Leading a team of senior FTC lawyers, Cruz...relentlessly [fought] against state laws conferring privilege on politically and economically powerful interest groups. Many of these laws do little more than protect entrenched incumbents from small entrepreneurs seeking to open a business and earn a living. Cruz and his team vigorously opposed unjustified state government privilege in such diverse occupations as attorneys, funeral directors, opticians, and mortgage brokers. The goal was always to open up markets to entry by anyone with the talent and desire to compete on a level playing field.
The legal theories that Cruz and his team developed from 2001 to 2003 continue to pay dividends. For example, last year those theories helped secure economic rights for small entrepreneurs providing teeth-whitening services in North Carolina shopping mall kiosks and similar venues...As a result, the new competitors began taking business away from the incumbent dentists.
In response to this emerging competition,...a North Carolina state-sanctioned agency controlled and elected by practicing dentists and..sent letters to the small operators threatening them with potential criminal liability for the unauthorized practice of dentistry.....
...Similarly,resting on the NCSB decision,a Texas telemedicine business brought an antitrust suit against the state's medical board, alleging that the board promulgated a rule for the unlawful purpose of protecting state-licensed physicians against competition from telemedicine providers. The rule prohibits doctors from treating people over the telephone. The court issued a temporary injunction requiring the medical board to suspend the rule pending the outcome of the litigation. ....after the NCSB decision,LegalZoom settled a long-running dispute with the N.C. State Bar...................

"Ronald Reagan is hailed today for a presidency that restored optimism to America, engendered years of economic prosperity, and helped bring about the fall of the Soviet Union. Yet until now little attention has been paid to the role Reagan's personal spirituality played in his political career, shaping his ideas, bolstering his resolve, and ultimately compelling him to confront the brutal -- and, not coincidentally, atheistic -- Soviet empire.
In this groundbreaking book, political historian Paul Kengor draws upon Reagan's legacy of speeches and correspondence, and the memories of those who knew him well, to reveal a man whose Christian faith remained deep and consistent throughout his more than six decades in public life. Raised in the Disciples of Christ Church by a devout mother with a passionate missionary streak, Reagan embraced the church after reading a Christian novel at the age of eleven. A devoted Sunday-school teacher, he absorbed the church's model of "practical Christianity" and strived to achieve it in every stage of his life.
But it was in his lifelong battle against communism -- first in Hollywood, then on the political stage -- that Reagan's Christian beliefs had their most profound effect. Appalled by the religious repression and state-mandated atheism of Bolshevik Marxism, Reagan felt called by a sense of personal mission to confront the USSR. Inspired by influences as diverse as C.S. Lewis, Whittaker Chambers, and Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, he waged an openly spiritual campaign against communism, insisting that religious freedom was the bedrock of personal liberty. "The source of our strength in the quest for human freedom is not material, but spiritual," he said in his Evil Empire address. "And because it knows no limitation, it must terrify and ultimately triumph over those who would enslave their fellow man."
From a church classroom in 1920s Dixon, Illinois, to his triumphant mission to Moscow in 1988, Ronald Reagan was both political leader and spiritual crusader. God and Ronald Reagan deepens immeasurably our understanding of how these twin missions shaped his presidency -- and changed the world."
You’re question is really dumb.
It’s freedom of religion, not freedom from religion.
Pfft... Trump supporters.
“Pastor Rafael Cruz told the Dove TV that Texas Sen. Ted Cruz’ decision resulted from 6 months of prayer, which culminated in a 2-hour session in which Cruz felt divine inspiration which directed him to enter the race, according to Right Wing Watch.
During the intense prayer session, Ted Cruz’ wife, Heidi, said “seek God’s face, not God’s hand,” the elder Cruz said. He believes this was divinely inspired as well.
“It was as if there was a presence of the Holy Spirit in the room and we all were at awe,” Cruz stated, “and Ted, all that came out of his mouth, he said, ‘Here am I Lord, use me. Here am I Lord, I surrender to whatever Your will for my life is.’ And it was at that time that he felt a
peace about running for president of the United States.”
Well, if you have nothing good to say about “property rights, the right to earn a living, and the right to open a business...” go to FR and troll Cruz threads, apparently.
Another hit and run anti-Cruz post.
Here are some facts:
I do hope they continue this line of attack in South Carolina. It will be interesting to see the results.
You still have yet to deliver me a quote from Ted Cruz stating that “God told me to enter the race.” Genuine Christians feel inspired most every day. Whether it be cleaning the house, feeding the hungry, or running for president. If you don’t understand that, then just say you don’t understand it and that it makes you nervous. But don’t go around trying to put words in Ted’s mouth just so you can make your phantom point.
They were there on Iowa Caucus night for Ted Cruz; and I expect his 3rd place showing in NH.
That article, written by a libertarian political activist, gives the history - and is a very good read.
I wonder what we will find if we looked at the quotes of Melanin, Ivanka and other Trump family members.
Read the Cruz Tax Plan. The “simple 16% business flat tax” is applied to revenue minus the cost of materials. That is “value added”. So it is a tax on payroll as well as profits.

“I like many things about Ted Cruz. But his tax plan is so amazingly powerful I’d vote for him just for that.
No corporate income tax, no death tax, no payroll tax, no alternative minimum tax, virtually no deductions, a very low rate on income, $25,000 per year tax deferred savings accounts for everyone. The 16% business tax/”VAT” that people worry about is a consumption tax and it replaces so many other taxes.
No more tax preferences, no lobbying, massive incentives for saving and investment. This would be better than Reaganomics and would incite a tsunami of economic growth!”

So a 16% tax on payroll expenses eliminates the payroll tax? And a 16% tax on business income eliminates the corporate income tax? Wow! That was easy!

I’ve provided the LINK, everyone should go and read Cruz’s tax plan.
Your view is one view.
It’s best that voters see for themselves what Ted Cruz’s detailed tax plan says, rather than rely on you.

You seem to be referencing something his father said, not something Ted Cruz said, but why do you have a problem if God tells someone to obey him?
