Rush: If Conservatism Is Your Only Priority, There Is No Choice Other Than Ted Cruz
The Rush Limbaugh Show ^ | 2/10/16 | Rush Limbaugh

Posted on 02/10/2016 2:17:21 PM PST by TBBT

If conservatism is your bag, if conservatism is the dominating factor in how you vote, there is no other choice for you in this campaign than Ted Cruz, because you are exactly right: This is the closest in our lifetimes we have ever been to Ronald Reagan.

***snip***

But for those of you that conservatism's the answer and conservatism is the way, you have no choice here. Ted Cruz has got to be your guy. There's nobody even close. Nobody.

As a New Hampshire resident, I heard numerous repeats of a mysterious, unattributed Cruz for President ad on the radio in recent weeks. The spot included Rush, Rush’s own words, spoken during a Fox Sunday show months back about how much Rush admired Cruz. Fair enough. But — it was unclear who sponsored (funded) the ad. It did not even say “Rush endorses Cruz, why don’t you?” during the ad, the audio was just thrown in, and left hanging there. Weird.

I assume either Rush gave them authorization to include his voice - or he paid for the ads directly.

OK - I don’t think he has changed his views on immigration and he obviously was advocating for the wall years before Trump. There - I just refuted your opinion. Now, how do you excuse Trumps numerous flip flops and extremely liberal positions? Would you make the same excuses if his last name was Romney?

You can't just redefine conservatism to suit your candidate

Nor can you. cruz pushed TPA through congress, he voted for the corker bill, he has been funded by groups like goldman sachs and CFG. These are not the acts of a conservative. cruz is a one worlder and will not stop the flood of foreigners coming into this country.

He’s as much elidgable as King O has been for 7 years. And, he is a much better constitutional lawyer than Bammy wants to be.

LOL.

I’ll give it to you straight:

George Washington was probably not what we in modernity consider a Conservative.

There. Party on.

George Washington didn’t have the luxury of having seen Communism, for example. That experience informs a more thorough thing we now call conservatism.

Maybe.

But just because someone CAN win the Republican primary doesn’t guarantee they can win the general either.

I Guarantee you, it’s a lot closer to it than the Iowa Republican Caucus.

——he is the enemy to some and utterly useless to others——

I would argue your point is considerably overstated.

Cruz is recognized as a conservative’s conservative. He led the fight in the Senate but was not able to prevail in all of his efforts. That willingness is appreciated. But, his efforts are considered extreme. That was stated as “no body likes Him.”

America has experienced one ideologue as President and is loath to replace him with what some perceive as his polar opposite.

If he loses he will still be a strong, perhaps even stronger, voice in the Senate. His influence when there is a possibility of actually passing something in the senate with no presidential veto, will be able to strengthen the conservative legislative influence.

supporting, even praising his senate work does not translate one on one into the Presidential race

I’ve realized that it’s not worth arguing, debating or even discussing the differences between Cruz and Trump or why one is preferred over the other, and why, with Trump supporters.

They like who they like. I like who I like. We all are set in our beliefs and convictions for who fits our ideals, and no one is going to change any minds. In fact, I would bet, with all the back and forth cat fighting that I see on these threads, some are turned off even more so, by the way some supporters behave.

The Republican party is definitely split. And just like the cancer of progressivism has taken over the Democrat party and the left, it too, has invaded the Republican party. And just like with other words, they have changed the meaning of Conservative into something different. Conservativism no longer means what it did, when Reagan was president.

I consider myself to be a Constitutional Conservative. I believe our Constitution needs to be conserved. But more than that, I believe our Constitution needs to be restored. I don’t believe in a full destruction of our entire government/system. I don’t want it all to burn down. But I do want justice and I do want rule of law, to be restored.

That’s the kind of “Conservative” I am. And fighting with people who have an opposing viewpoint, is a waste of everyone’s time and intelligence.

On the report card, Trump & Cruz can be deemed 'guilty' on flip flopping so in that respect, they are equal in my eyes. Many of Cruz & Trump's positions on their face are pretty equal.

Furthermore, I believe both are iffy in the general for somewhat the same reason: Cruz has marginalized his support to the evangelicals and Trump's personality is off putting to others.

Some of Cruz's decisions like aligning with Glenn Beck just put me off as does Trump with his mouth sometimes.

We need to win in November, period.

I don't know. You tell me? You picked this picture. Ted Cruz made a horrible mistake tagging along with Glenn Beck and pandering to the illegals.

Thank, but here’s my complete post:

As much as I love Cruz as a conservative, there really is a voter rebellion underway and it may be unstoppable. Despite all the denials, the simple truth is the voters really are fed-up and really are up in arms against the establishment.

Trump’s message is exactly what the voters are looking for:

Build the wall, enforce the law, deport them all, slap a moratorium on Muslim immigration, bomb the hell out of ISIS, cut the taxes, cut the spending, cut the regulations, cut the government, cut the bad trade deals, cut the political correctness crap, bring back capital, bring back manufacturing, bring back jobs, get the economy back on track, rebuild the military so no one messes with us and make America great again!

It’s a winning message.

The rallies are real.

The pent up anger is real.

The rebellion is real!

GOPe RINOs Bush, Rubio, Kasich, et al, stand no chance whatsoever.

We still have hope for conservative Cruz to pull it out, but this is Trump’s Rebellion to lose.

Go, Cruz, GO!!

Go, Trump, GO!!

Either way, we win, they lose.
