If conservatism is your bag, if conservatism is the dominating factor in how you vote, there is no other choice for you in this campaign than Ted Cruz, because you are exactly right: This is the closest in our lifetimes we have ever been to Ronald Reagan.
***snip***
But for those of you that conservatism's the answer and conservatism is the way, you have no choice here. Ted Cruz has got to be your guy. There's nobody even close. Nobody.

“On FR no less.”
Hey, if you open the gates to a bunch of liberal supporters, don’t be surprised when they run around acting like liberals!
(Not saying you opened the gates, but just saying...)
I used to pray for Rush every night. Now... not so much.
OK, what does conservative mean? Details, how is Ted Cruz any more conservative than Trump, issues not warm fuzzy feelings.
He's the best political analyst of our era.
And he did not endorse Cruz.
Well, we’ll see if it has any affect. He sure hyped Trump for a long time.
I don’t understand.
Conservative orthodoxy does not include open borders, monopoly, crony capitalism or interventionism. Those things infest the Republican Party certainly, but they are not Conservatism itself.
I fear we are miscommunicating.
The one point that is really conservatism is Free Trade. That is non-interventionism by governments and a low tax regimen. To suggest trade restrictions is to give government power and cash it oughtn’t have in order to protect the freedom of individuals to do what they wish.
But mainly, let’s not confuse Republicanism (Yuck!) and Conservatism (Hoorah!)
“Where did Cruzy serve?”
I think sensible people understand that not serving when there is no draft and we have an all volunteer military, versus avoiding the draft when it is in effect, are two completely different things.
I support Trump and I heard this show. There’s more too it.
“A vote for Trump is no different than a vote for Sanders/Clinton.”
Not true.
A vote for Sanders/Clinton is a vote for socialism.
A vote for Trump is a shot in the dark. Who knows what he really believes or will decide to do tomorrow?
You do realize he holds annual fund raisers for the Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation and pledges $100,000 annually from his tea company?
Just because it fits in a syllogism, doesn’t make it true.
Don’t you know Trump is the champion of the little guy?
Unless the little guy owns a house where Trump wants to build a parking lot, that is.
Conservatism to me is:
Small limited government (Return Fed govt to Constitutional barriers/return rights back to states)
Upholding and following the Constitution
Godly values and principles
Pro-Life
Pro 2nd Amendment
Belief in America and American values
Pro-Military
Pro-Israel
Anti-war, but recognizing it may be necessary to fight the evils that threaten our national security
Anti-Islam
Anti-Nation Building
Anti-Global Warming/Climate Change
Equal rights for everyone, no special rights for specific groups (race, creed, religion, sexual preference)
Marriage between man and woman
To name just a few...
And the one who most closely and consistently aligns with those values, is Ted Cruz.
So Rush is defending why he likes Rubio?
Rubio only memorizes lines and cannot think on his feet.
When Christy called out Rubio, he short circuited, repeated the same lines 3 more times. Thus, validating what Christy was saying that Rubio is a sock puppet that can’t think on his feet. He only memorizes lines.
BUMP
Which makes Rush disingenuous. He knows Trump has 0 chance of being president.
The bulk of the “conservatives”have become free trading globalists, after so many of the “conservatives” we have elected over the years. They actually believe that cheap imported crap helps our economy.
What has Cruz actually done since going to Washington? Aside from talking?
Hi, Raster!
As I've said before to you, Ted Cruz is a JAP (Just Another Politician). He may be a great guy, the smartest conservative out there & a great debater.
He's my #2 cause I prefer an outsider. His relationship with Glenn Beck frankly disgusts me.
I guess that’s why Trump beat his ass in new Hampshire.
