Obama Will Seek $11 Billion for Homeless Families
New York Times ^ | February 8, 2016 | by NIKITA STEWART

After making progress in reducing homelessness among veterans, the Obama administration is turning to the larger and more complicated challenge of homelessness among families with young children.

In his 2017 budget, to be presented on Tuesday, President Obama will propose spending $11 billion over the next 10 years to fight family homelessness, a phenomenon that is closely linked to the dearth of affordable housing in New York and other big cities.

Of that amount, $8.8 billion would go to housing vouchers and $2.2 billion to more short-term assistance.

In addition to the $11 billion plan, Mr. Obama is proposing discretionary spending on 10,000 new housing vouchers; 8,000 new units for rapid rehousing; and 25,500 new units of supportive housing, or housing that is coupled with social services. That additional spending would have to be approved through an appropriations bill.

If we pay people to be poor and homeless, more people will be poor and homeless. Face it, 47% of the country would consider that to be a dream “job.” The best way to end poverty would be to stop subsidizing it, thus forcing people to actually work for a living or starve (and yes, we need to be prepared to let people starve if they won’t work).

About 95% of what the Fed government does is unconstitutional.

No better way to create more homeless families than to pay families to be homeless.

Not that I think any family wants to be homeless but this will certainly lower effort families are willing to go through to find other options.

I’m sure the funds are to be used to house the immigrant children that have flooded our border and not actual American citizens.

Lord Foul seeks 11 billion for homeless families, money to be distributed by his pals and cronies, with 10.999 billion going to overhead and .001 billion going to homeless families

Well, add up those 3 categories = 43,500 (& 10,000 of them are only for "vouchers")

If Obama & his Obamanomics wanted to come alongside & "assist" all 43,500 families by just GIVING them the $ to go DIRECT into housing...they could purchase homes for an average of $183,908 per family.

Now it IS true that with ANY administrative costs -- ya gotta take off 20-25% to screen/filter WHICH families receive the help. But that STILL would put homes / apartments/condos in the $139,000 to $147,000 category.

PLUS -- when you consider that about 25% of this $ is suppose to go ONLY for vouchers...and not permanent housing... that shoots the value of homes the govt could buy for 33,500 homeless families w/amounts approaching a quarter of a million PER HOUSE / housing unit!

But, of course...Democrat-styled socialism is ALL ABOUT growing the government...NOT helping homeless families!

Heh heh, you said vouchers. Yeah yeah, why do they like work with housing but not schools? Heh heh.

Bet you one American dollar that every bit of that $11 billion will go to Illegal Immigrants and Muslim Jihadist imports.

Its a reality most Americans face.

Again, if Obama weren't bringing in aliens then Americans wouldn't be facing a housing crisis and a high cost of housing. He's housing the illegals and refugees on our dime, while Americans suffer trying to make the rent. If the foreigners want housing, they shouldn't get it subsidized by taxpayers. Bringing them in reducing the housing stock for the rest of us.
