He has one thing wrong. Trump has an ideological ceiling as well as a personality ceiling. Some are willing to go with superlatives instead of details. Most are not. He has no majority and I think it will be very hard for him to gain one. I am repelled by his personality and his flip-flopping generalities.

Particularly, this:
So in the week between Iowa and New Hampshire he sent out the kid in the mail room who orders up his "Make America Great Again" hats to place a side-order for a ground game. And it worked so well Trump outperformed the polls.
If he does that in South Carolina, this thing's over.

And, until the mod squad consolidates behind one of these guys, the GOP establishment will be stuck with a frontrunner it despises, and a runner-up it despises even more. The currently elected and their consultant buddies wouldn't listen to their base, so they're getting what they deserve - an ouster. Now as for "out of the frying pan".... that's a whole other matter.

The GOP establishment has betrayed its voters and supporters, except for the very rich and the "moderate" RINOs. We gave them the House and Senate. They were still too timid and slimed to take on Obama, the most destructive, lawless, and Evil President in American GOP voted to destroy our military, ruin their health care, and steal their retire, met, while authorizing Trillions for Illegal Invaders to suck on Obamacare subsidies, Food Stamps, EITC tax credit scams, and welfare. They REFUSE to hold Barry Soetoro's or his criminal henchman accountable. What do these jerks expect?! That we will support them now?

I’m only broaching the subject because Steyn refers to the general election but when will the Israel-hating left reconcile their hate with their support for the Jewish Sanders?

BTW, Wifey, it's good to see you took my advice and drank some shine, smoked your cob, took your meds and are mellowed out...congrats to you.

Steyn is always good.
I think Cruz is perhaps a "stealth insider." The uniparty can afford to have a few on the fringes at both ends, in the House and Senate. Much tougher to allow that person to ascend to the presidency, so certainly, on its face, Cruz is unacceptable to the crony-establishment.
I also think that elevating Cruz to the presidency is something the GOPe would, if it wanted to, have a tough time doing. Not enough of the public will accept him.
I recall Laura Ingraham saying, months ago, keep an eye on Bush. I think that still holds. Somebody will be last man standing against Trump.

it must be noted that Cruz is Texan and NH is yankee
in addition to the political differences, Texans get stuck in Yankee craws.
The problem with America are largely those of North East Yankees

Chris Christie has emerged as our new Luca Brasi. Shame if we can’t keep him around and sic him on Kasich if he continues to be uppity. Honestly, Christie’s Rubio hit was classic - when Rubio responded to the canned response accusation by repeating the same canned response, Christie’s gobsmacked face was priceless.

Yes, and isn’t it interesting that Steyn identifies Cruz (correctly) as the most GOPe despised candidate. They despise Trump because he’s not playing by the rule. They despise Cruz more because he actually believes what he says. They know that Trump is playing his followers, filling a market niche, and keen to cut a deal that prove he’s a deal maker without regard to principles.

I thought Trump could beat Hillary, but I'm not so sure about a Trump/Sanders contest. Bernie is promising revolution to the young, and they like it.With all the drama of who's up and who's down, this is Steyn's most frightening line.
This is what happened with Obama, and the demographics for us are worse today than in 2008. There are millions more totally clueless people, parasitic aliens, and economically hopeless and desperate people in this country today than then. Eight years of poisoning America's Constitutional wellspring with fascism and relentless propaganda has taken it's toll.
