To make it worse, Convention Rule 40 B says the Candidate must have a majority of delegates in at least eight states. The Romney people passed this rule in 2012 when they had control of the party. It hurts Donald Trump.

A brokered convention is the last gasp effort for the GOPe to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. I see them playing every trick in the book to sustain the political money system that fattens their wallets. The only problem is that The Donald will continue to educate the American People about the cesspool America’s center of power has become. The Potomac has been a putrid swamp for too long.

I am not a member yet of the Donald bandwagon here, but...
any attempt by the GOP-E to steal the nomination from him would result in millions of people staying home, not is voting...an almost guaranteed loss for the GOP (unless Hillary does similarly to old Bernie the Red).

a ‘party bosses and hacks’ election choice of, say, Hillary versus Jeb/Kasich/Christie/? would see less voting than the race for Podunk dog catcher.

even the possibility of this happening...raises the (very old) question of why we allow our representative government to be so much in the hands of just two political parties (remembering that some of our founders opposed even allowing parties to begin with)

“However [political parties] may now and then answer popular ends, they are likely in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people and to usurp for themselves the reins of government, destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion.” George Washington

There is nothing which I dread so much as a division of the republic into two great parties, each arranged under its leader, and concerting measures in opposition to each other. This, in my humble apprehension, is to be dreaded as the greatest political evil under our Constitution.

JOHN ADAMS, letter to Jonathan Jackson, Oct. 2, 1789

Stop him from the nomination by theft and deceit and they create a Third Party Candidate.

I think the gOPEC knows what mistake that would be.

I have thought all along that we should have at the ready an alternative movement called “We the People Will Write-In” and that it should become be very apparent to the GOPe that we will not vote for a Dirty Tricks candidate.....our votes will go to a Trump or Cruz write-in. They will have a lot to lose....both the election and their corrupt party.

ps: I think that a main reason Mr. Trump (and Bernie) are getting so much public support is that the public is fed up with all the lies and deceit and corruption in the Clinton Machine and in the GOP-E

If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

I will be shocked if all the talk of a brokered convention doesn't come to a complete halt.

The prime objective of the "establishment" is self-preservation. ALL of the energy is with the Trump/Cruz part of the party. ALL of it.

Assuming things continue in that vein, the GoP will be faced with something that looks like the 1968 Dem convention should they attempt a smokey backroom deal, and they know it. It would wreck the party for a decade.

GOPe, a brokered convention will NOT BE TOLERATED!

Trump: 35.1%-—92,103 votes—10 delegates
Kasich: 15.9—41,645 votes—3 delegates
Cruz: 11.6%—30,416 votes...2 delegates

Well, if you call a brokered convention “stealing” the election right in the first sentence, it’s pretty obvious what the author’s conclusion is, eh?

Consider this though: what if, in the Twilight Zone, Jeb Bush somehow is leading the pack with 30% of the vote, while a bunch of conservative candidates are splitting the other 70%. Jeb sweeps up the most electoral votes, but is still short of the 50% he needs to win. If the other conservative candidates endorsed the top conservative and told their delegates to vote for him, would they be “stealing” the election from Jeb? Or would handing the nomination to someone that less than 50% of the party wanted as the nominee be “stealing” the election from the conservatives?

If the Republican establishment really went down this road it would END the Republican party for good as far as voters are concerned.

Such a move would be akin to flying a plane into a building while you remained in it.

Sound familiar?

They do this they loose. Of course they don’t care. The GOP establishment is comprised of gutless, privileged bloodsuckers growing wealthy through campaign contributions by crony capitalists, They should all be guillotined.

They better not even try that unless they want the biggest uprising they’ve ever seen. The mood toward the GOPe out on the street is not very good.

If Jeb keeps losing as miserably as he is yet DOESN’T drop out, to me, that will be a good sign that the GOP plans to try and pull a fast one if at all possible. So keep your eye on that.

The eGOP is finished. Dirty anti-American politics has killed it off. They push out any candidate using dirty tricks like this and millions of Republican voters will not vote.
