Rafael Cruz, the father of GOP presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz, is warning Americans to do some serious fruit-checking before they vote this election season.
"There are many campaign conservatives - people that will tell you what you want to hear," Cruz said during a recent interview on the Jesse Lee Peterson Show. "What I recommend is stop listening to the rhetoric, look at their record. Stop listening to what they say. Look at what they've done and what they do.
"Jesus put it this way: 'You shall know them by their fruits.' Check the fruit."
Cruz believes if voters examine the fruits his son Ted has borne, they will see they can trust him. He noted Ted has been at the forefront of many battles, such as the fight to repeal Obamacare, the fight to preserve the Second Amendment, and the fight for the right to life.
Jesse Lee Peterson, the host, told Rafael how much he values Ted's principled stands in the Senate.
"I think most Americans appreciate the way he stood up to the RINO Republicans and others who would not deal with Barack Obama the proper way, just allowing him to do whatever he wants," said Peterson, a WND columnist and author of "The Antidote." "For me, that stood out like nothing else. I do appreciate that."
The elder Cruz, who authored the new book "A Time for Action: Empowering the Faithful to Reclaim America," replied that's the very reason so many Washington insiders dislike Ted, because he exposes the establishment.

You mock above your paygrade. Pity.
Never bet you will be alive tomorrow, no man knows. Mocking God, or righteous men tends to make the odds worse.
Good luck with that.
No, it is not about prophets, the test for prophets is if what they say comes 100% true.
Do you really think Jesus is Cruz like you said?!
That is an odd accusation, can you back it up? Or does it exist only in your own offense with God.
Uh, you obviously know little about true saved Christian’s. You don’t know their hearts, but you can judge their motives and salvation. Thin ice you walk on there.
You checked the Cruz fruit and vote Trump? That is a mighty evil heart you have there.
Yeah, CNNand Saturday Night Live make great bedfellows. They love Conservative values. They would never set up athe leading Conservative for the sake of...
PT Barnam was right!
A confession of faith is pandering, no winning with you is there?
Good luck with that. Trust me, Trump gets in and it will still be true.
She seems like a more private person and may want it that way. He does talk about her and seems to love and respect her.
Both Sessions and Cruz pretty much rewrote the gang of 8 bill and gave it everything the gang wanted EXCEPT amnesty. The gang of 8 who were selling the bill as everything but amnesty voted against Session's and Cruz's bill. Both he and Sessions's knew it was nothing more than creating votes and had nothing to do with reform.
Cruz basically took what they wanted out of the Gang of Eight bill because he took amnesty out of it. That killed the bill, Cruz poisoned the bill with sections that not only included what you Trumpettes like to repeat (The H1-B section) but neglect to mention the other parts. Why is that? You know why.
And then Cruz voted to export American jobs to Asia via TPP!
Odd, I thought Cruz voted against TPA. He was for it for a while but ended up siding with Sessions against it.

If you want something I didn’t like about Cruz it was the other TPA bill (fast track) that Cruz did vote for. It was unconstitutional in my opinion. And I did publicly here on FR show my disapproval.
//What a self righteous know it all.//
Pysician, heal thyself.
Don’t assume I have not done my research, I have and it is a well crafted narrative designed to fool people like you into conflating religion and politics - what CS Lewis warned about in The Screwtape letters.
And you guess wrong. However, I do not attend a Dominionist cult like the Cruz’s do.
Furthermore, you attacked me (and others) rather than deal with the facts that he took scripture out of context. Logical fallacy on your part.
In short, the actions of Cruz and his father do not show true Christian conversion but rather opportunism in the name of Christ - much like we saw with Romney and with Huckabee.
Now, would you like to discuss my theological and biblical scholarship CV?
I agree completely. Run on the merits and your record - not using Christ as a way to manipulate supporters.
If Cruz was independently very rich, he would be a different senator altogether. He has little choice. He must throw bones to his ultra rich donors. Our political system and election system is designed to foster corruption. So I can not blame Cruz 100% for his votes pushing the cheap labor express.
NH is a liberal bastion like the rest of New England. No Cruz Wii hang around for some time. If he starts losing big in the South, it’s over for him.
Perhaps I only take advice from people able to prove they are so ultra rich they can't have dubious reasons to lie constantly. We can start with you.
Changing taglines.
And as far as lack of maturity, Trump consistently shows he lacks it. He’s far too smug when attacking the other candidates. If it’s him versus a Democrat I will vote for him, but he’s not the best choice
Tweeking tagline...
