Rafael Cruz, the father of GOP presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz, is warning Americans to do some serious fruit-checking before they vote this election season.
"There are many campaign conservatives - people that will tell you what you want to hear," Cruz said during a recent interview on the Jesse Lee Peterson Show. "What I recommend is stop listening to the rhetoric, look at their record. Stop listening to what they say. Look at what they've done and what they do.
"Jesus put it this way: 'You shall know them by their fruits.' Check the fruit."
Cruz believes if voters examine the fruits his son Ted has borne, they will see they can trust him. He noted Ted has been at the forefront of many battles, such as the fight to repeal Obamacare, the fight to preserve the Second Amendment, and the fight for the right to life.
Jesse Lee Peterson, the host, told Rafael how much he values Ted's principled stands in the Senate.
"I think most Americans appreciate the way he stood up to the RINO Republicans and others who would not deal with Barack Obama the proper way, just allowing him to do whatever he wants," said Peterson, a WND columnist and author of "The Antidote." "For me, that stood out like nothing else. I do appreciate that."
The elder Cruz, who authored the new book "A Time for Action: Empowering the Faithful to Reclaim America," replied that's the very reason so many Washington insiders dislike Ted, because he exposes the establishment.

I mean everyone appears to be a conservative before an election.
Yep. I'm much happier voting for someone if I can see their voting record in the house or senate, or what they've done as governor. I'll vote for Trump if he's the Republican presidential nominee, but I won't be too happy about it, because I suspect Carter got it right with the "malleable" comment, and I don't think Trump would be all that much different than your average Democrat when it comes to governing.

So yelling at the Senate Majority Leader is enough for a vote? Wow. Americans have sunk to a low when picking a reason to vote. No wonder were in this mess.

It seems that when a candidate throws around the names of God and Christ in the environment of a cammpaign, it’s taking the Lord’s name in vain. The goal is self serving, and not to glorify God. Pandering.
That’s like saying the fruit of Mitt Romney was his steadfast opposition to government controlled healthcare.
You miss the entirety of Cruz’s point. Trump’s fruit isn’t the issues he decided to latch on after running for office, its the decades of comments and actions that came before.
Abortion (Trump for it, Cruz against it). Listen to Trump go on and on about his pro abortion sister who would make a great Supreme Court Justice. "very pro-choice" - Trump
Guns (Trump for bans on assault weapons, Cruz always for 2nd Amendment)
Religion (Two Corinthians walk into a bar), Never asked forgiveness because he is so above that, Trump Plaza with male and female strip joints, graced the cover of Playboy, wife featured in Playboy, needs a parking lot for his limos, language.
Flip flops on everything from the war on drugs to health care to social security.
Donations to liberals his whole life. Heck look at the glowing remarks he made about Jeb Bush in the past.
Fruits are a show of character. Trump doesn't have any. He has leaned like he is some sort of conservative and the sheep have fawned over him, but just as quick as he switched talking conservative he will switch back liberal to try to win the election. He has no backbone because he has no spine, he is a jellyfish sliming to whatever position he can to get votes. A recent example would be ethonol just a few weeks ago.

Trumpsters are being too pushy. The traitor Senate hates Cruz which is a big plus. It looks to me that challenges to Cruz’s natural born citizenship will probably either on the vine. The Left and Hollywood hates him which is a great sign. He thinks sending our daughters into battle is crazy, which it is.
Cruz is looking better to me all the time.

Then vote for him. Everyone gets one vote. he is in sixth place in NH so perhaps Wednesday he’ll leave the campaign. It is nobody’s fault but Cruz for screwing up his campaign with his immaturity and lack of integrity in Iowa. Voters don’t like voting for people who will win at all costs. Cruz caused this nobody else did.
