Cruz: Drafting women is 'nuts'
Politico ^ | 02/07/16 | Katie Glueck

Posted on 02/07/2016 2:23:04 PM PST by Isara

PETERBOROUGH, N.H.-Ted Cruz on Sunday said he opposes requiring women to register for a potential draft, breaking with Marco Rubio, Jeb Bush and Chris Christie, all of whom indicated support for opening up the Selective Service to women during Saturday night's debate.

"I have to admit, as I was sitting there listening to that conversation, my reaction was, 'Are you guys nuts?'" Cruz said Sunday, speaking at a town hall here. "Listen, we have had enough with political correctness, especially in the military. Political correctness is dangerous. And the idea that we would draft our daughters to forcibly bring them into the military and put them in close combat, I think is wrong, it is immoral, and if I am president, we ain't doing it."

To applause, Cruz went on to note that he is a father to two daughters, and he wants them to follow their dreams.

"But the idea that their government would forcibly put them in a foxhole with a 220-pound psychopath trying to kill them doesn't make any sense at all," he said.

The previous night, at the presidential debate, Rubio said he had no problem with women in combat, and added, "I do believe Selective Service should be opened up for both men and women in the case a draft is ever instituted."

Bush made a similar argument but stressed that there is no draft and he is not calling for reinstating one.

Christie was less explicit, but more broadly indicated openness to allowing women to register for the Selective Service.

A man who sends his daughters off to fight our wars is no man at all.

Women are no in charge of us? When did this tipping point happen? Which women are pushing this? None of the JCS are women. The POTUS, VPOTUS, SECDEF—none of them are women. The GCC and MACOM commanders aren’t women.

“I don’t think that men in the military really want a bunch of women with them on the battlefield. If a woman wants to do that and she can pass all the tests, fine. But most women won’t.”

That door should never be even opened to women in combat roles. Even if a female passes all tests, which is dubious at best, except for a few Amazon women. What will really happen is that test levels will be lowered to accomodate women and their lesser physical abilities. Then lowered test scores will become acceptable. Thus, Pandora’s box will be fully opened and the damage done.

The Obama administration must be thwarted, all his obscenities overturned by our next conservative administration, and an end put to all this nonsense before it does further damage to our already sadly wounded society.

You argue my granddaughters must be subject to the draft because equality demands it. But then equality stops at the door of combat arms should a draft arise. So you are in effect arguing against your equality argument. Spinning like a top.

Women could have separate units. But really, since gays are in there and that also harms cohesiveness, I do not see how that can be an issue any longer. Why should gay men get to serve with the objects of their sexual desire but not hetero men? Or women.

Glad to see Cruz answer that one the way I would have answered it.....except I also would have mentioned how the Marine survey showed they thought this was a bad idea........as did special ops and other units.

I think I would trust "what is best" from the men who actually put their lives on the line, before I would flunky politicians who have joined with the LIBERAL'S in their "social experimentation" (aka degradation) of the military.

What you want next to you is a guy that can and will drag your ass out if the kill zone when and if it is necessary. Not a 5’0” 110 lb girl fresh out of high school. I

FYI: I am female and would totally submit to this requirement if I were of draft age. Would I be terrified? Absolutely. But it is fundamentally wrong to entirely change the rules but for this one area. My life is not more valuable than a man’s life. I have to die sometime. I think that would be a very honorable way to go.

Cruz did mention that in another article I read earlier today, but I can't find it right now; I'll post it if I come across it again.

But allowing them to serve in combat isn’t. Just as you said, Senator.

No I’m not.

The army is the army. They all serve the nation, not one serves, and the other enjoys civilian life.

Good. I was hoping he knew how the military guys feel about this.

I almost had a stroke last night when I heard those supposed "military supporting" idiots cheerfully agree about drafting women.

Never said we send them off to war. Are women in the military now? Then how does registering for the draft force them into battle? There are plenty of support jobs to do. And like I’ve posted above, just end the draft registration requirements for all. Only seems fair.

There won’t be women in combat units either unless they can do the job. If we need to reinstitute the draft it will be under dire circumstances. Women will be needed to fill positions to free up men for combat. If it gets that bad everyone should be required to participate. I say that as a woman from a strong military background.

Because the argument for women to register is equality. Equality would mean an equal chance at being drafted into combat arms. Right?

“It’s called chivalry”

The response to the cuckhold men subordinating themselves to females, and acting like disposable utilities, while deluding themselves into thinking that they are still at least equal to them, is called MGTOW.
