Ben Carson said late Saturday that Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas approached him during an off-camera break at ABCâs Republican debate to apologize for his campaignâs conduct during the Iowa caucuses and requested a one-on-one meeting with him.
âHe said heâs sorry that this happened and he wants to sit down and talk,â Carson said in an interview with The Washington Post. âHe wants to discuss the whole thing and clear the air.â
In the interview, Carson said pointedly that if the meeting with Cruz is scheduled, that does not mean the the senator will be absolved.
âThe evidence is there,â he said, citing voice-mails that his campaign has released of Cruz allies telling caucus-goers that Carson was likely to suspend his bid. âTapes, written communications, itâs all out there. People have to decide whether this kind of behavior is acceptable to them.â

CNN spent a good amount of time dissecting Cruz’s lies
last night.
Only if you are a Cruz groupie.
Ted did what he did.
Like I said before, to win at any cost is to lose.
Lesson learned.
Tweeting the news is fair game.
Comparing Carson to a child molester, attacking his faith & character & skills as a surgeon....dirty nasty politics on par with vote fraud and all those lies drove Carson down in the polls.
pookie18
LOL
There’s that ;-)
OK let’s see if your idol is less obtuse than we are.
He stepped in it or he wouldn’t be apologizing and trying to arrange private meetings. He should come out today or tomorrow (BEFORE the election) and admit that what happened in Iowa was wrong and that it may have damaged Dr. Carson’s vote, and as a result the staff person responsible has been fired and safeguards have been put in place to make sure he personally approves any future messages of this type.
Then the air would be cleared, and Cruz would have landed on one side or the other of this issue. The longer he publically denies it’s a problem while he privately tries to make it go away, the more peole see the kind of guy Cruz really is.
It would have gone nowhere fast if someone did it to Cruz because it wouldn’t ring true. At all. With Carson, EVERYONE thought it was true because of how he’s running his campaign.
The faux outrage on FR over Carson getting busted being a bad campaigner is ridiculous.
It is ok to lie about a candidate with lower poll numbers isn’t much of a Christian response. How sad so many Cruz supporters can accept that idea and still tout Christian principles are important to them.
Nope. Is it yours?
It makes me wonder when I see people decrying any and all attempts to reconcile between candidates.
How a candidate handles adversity demonstrates much about how they would govern.
The media doesn’t want the issue to disappear. Do the candidates? How about the voters?
So far, it is more about tearing down one side without building up the other, as far as I can see.
Rafeal Eduardo Cruz, the other single term Senator, is making all the window dressing to appease the evangelicals and their ‘seeking forgiveness’ stuff.
Rafeal Eduardo Cruz did the voting shaming, (oh! my bad! i’m sorry!), did the calling out that Carson was pulling out of the race (oh! it was a misinterpretation of the facts! i’m sorry!), and now, over-extends his handfuls of peace gestures, to make it look like Carson is the bad guy.
Nope!
grow up, and so should carson.
Cruz will have to fire the staffer or staffers responsible before this goes away.
“Some other candidate has made Ben a promise.”
Agreed. Further, Carson is trying to raise money off this.
He needs to drop out....the way he cries every time he’s asked a question at a debate is old and whiny too.
Carson is really showing his ass over this thing. What a disappointment.

In a word, “disappointment” pretty well sums up my thought about Carson also.
CNN has a vested interest in debunking Cruz’s response. If not his fault, it is theirs.
“Or haven’t you seen the analysis that showed that based on the 2nd-choice preferences of Carson voters,”
Let’s dig into the “analysis.”
All the major, respected analysis showed that Trump had a decent lead in Iowa.
Trump didn’t put out sleazy mailers and call them normal.
Trump’s camp didn’t put out tweets and phone messages saying Carson was out the day of the primary.
These are just the things we have heard about.
If Cruz did nothing wrong, why was he so quick to apologize?
Yep. Punishment first, no investigation after.
I noticed Cruz approached him immediately after the debate. The contrast in body language between the two spoke volumes.
We call people like that hypocrites.
Carson and his people are the ones who made the strange announcement about returning to FL for more clothes. CNN blasted that out, which made it seem like Carson was dropping out, and the Cruz campaign capitalized on that bit of Carson created confusion. It’s called politics. I support Trump for president, but I don’t see where Cruz is at fault on this non-issue.
