When the middle class breaks down and folks don't think they'll have the opportunity to succeed on their own merits, socialism is appealing.

That why the role model of a successful businessman who knows what's needed to things around for job creation and business opportunities has the best message to counter that.

That’s right; they are too young to appreciate the failures of socialism (though Venezuela should sound a warning), but they are quite sure the status quo (which already incorporates socialism, but isn’t publicly revealed as such) isn’t working.

unless capitalism or its crony offshoots can create a credible future for the young.
The young have been indoctrinated into believing they dont have to work and the gov will share with them the wealth of the evil capitalists.

Correct. Being saddled with a mortgage-load of student debt and few employment prospects tends to sour young people as well. Someone promising easy answers always has appeal in such an environment.
