For me, the issue this US election season is the corruption. Sure, I'd like a balanced budget and less debt and repeal of Obamacare, but I'm getting used to being sold out on those issues. So I'm down to the bare minimum requirement for a politician: The corruption nauseates me, and, if it doesn't nauseate the candidates, then that explains a lot about why nothing happens on any of those other matters. It's in the air, it's in my nostrils, and I'm sick of choking on it. We have a "justice" department that prosecutes a senator who made the mistake of crossing the President (Menendez) but declines to do anything about a tax collector who treats American taxpayers differently on the basis of how they vote (Lerner). We have a revenue agency that regards itself as the paramilitary wing of the ruling party. We have replaced equality before the law with a hierarchy of privilege, so that no-name ambassadors can be fired for breaking federal record-keeping requirements by a department whose boss outsources her federal records to her own server and then mass-deletes them with no more thought than when she's parking her van in the handicapped space. We have a federal police agency in which 26 out of its 28 hair analysts gave false testimony favorable to the prosecution. We have a cabinet officer who managed to get more firepower deployed to toss her designated scapegoat videomaker into the county jail than she assigned to the US diplomatic compound in Benghazi. We have a president who rules by decree on everything from immigration to health care - and a legislature of castrati too craven to object.
I would like a candidate who promises to hose out the sewer.

As a Florida voter and one who campaigned, donated to and supported Rubio for what he promised to do on illegal immigration at the 2010 Republican District 4 Kickoff meeting, June 5, 2010, I made the decision to never vote for this opportunistic liar ever again, no matter the office he was running for.
If he comes up on the losing end of the primaries, I fully expect him to recant his decision to not run for re-election because there is a lot of time from today to the filing deadline of June 28. I have asked the DeSantis campaign (whom I support)about this possibility but have received no answer.
Steyn quoting Powerline AND Rove in the same article?
Now there’s something you don’t see every day!
I thought I was stating something fairly obvious. Yes, it would be nice if the Cruz campaign said so much in so many words, but it should not take Sherlock or a shrink to figure out how that could happen when there was an absence of malicious or nefarious intent. There are those who will continue to attack Cruz over this because they wanted another candidate anyway. The GOPe crew will be happy to belabor the incident in the worst possible light.
So, how many people do you know who will admit to being scammed? With what we know of the media, how many really care to do an effective “journalistic” Post Op when the whole circus train has left the state with the next vote just a week away?
The fact is that we know the timeline, we know that Carson’s wife was at a precinct when the Cruz people were making the announcement. And we know that she countered that and Carson subsequently won the precinct. Would he have won it if the thing never happened? That is just another question you or anybody else cannot answer now that it is over and those people have gone on with their lives.
“No, we havenât. But we (Cruz supporters) have to ask ourselves would we have preferred a victory in Iowa without the taint that has been caused by the tweet and mailer flaps?
In your heart of hearts you must say yes.”
I don’t have a problem with either stunt.....I love steyn but he is a trump guy. You don’t see the Carson voters crying just the trump cult
.
Of course no one wants to get caught in lies or deception. Hopefully Cruz and his campaign have learned that Americans don’t like that and will run a clean campaign from this point. I don’t support Cruz as first choice but as he is running as a Christian I want him to be principled and honest. Christians are already under attack.
I didn’t know that your initial comment was the actual explanation given out by the Cruz campaign (especially the part about ceasing to follow the original CNN story). That would make a bit of difference, I suppose, though I haven’t heard much air time given to this.
I don’t know...the whole thing is, to me, a bit of a let-down with Ted. I expected more. I don’t want to hear the Christian constitutional conservative as much as I want to SEE him. The two flaps (the Carson tweets and the voting mailer) simply leaves me wanting more.
He's like a root out of a dry ground. It likely he's acquainted with grief like his Lord.
However, Physiognomy is the realm of quacks and charlatans.

“Of course no one wants to get caught in lies or deception. Hopefully Cruz...”
Read the part of your comment I’ve sampled here. Just that part and then think about the implications for, not just Cruz, but any/all of his supporters who feel the desire to convince others to join his campaign. I am a Cruz supporter, but found myself keeping my mouth shut the past few days. I don’t want to get into explaining away incidents along the campaign trail, I want to talk about the need for America to get back to the Constitution. Period.
The incident is regrettable, but I don’t think it made a big difference in Cruz’ showing. The surprise was Rubio, whether he was a Carson voter second choice or something else was at play, I don’t know.
Sorry, I know neither J.B. Williams nor his anonymous source. I’ll need audio or confirmation from Cruz for what was attributed to him.

I’m working on it. I’ll let you know if I can pull it together.
I hope it does make a big difference...in terms of the way Cruz and his campaign handle things going forward. Seems things not being a big deal can sure get fanned into the kind of flame that dominates news cycles taking valuable time away from efforts to get people to hear what you have to say. The media knows this, lives for this (so they can become the story).
You’ve got to stay above the fray.
Not clear on what you mean.... I was acknowledging the truth of a statement by a Cruz supporter. Then my intent was that the best way not to “get caught” is not to do it in the first place. I will not view Cruz nor Trump in the negative on past actions if they are no longer done. I do believe that through God everyone is capable of changes for the better.
Unlike some I don’t hold 20 year old opinions against Trump. He says differently now. I will no longer hold Cruz in negative light for Corker or TPA if he ceases to vote in that fashion or play on the edge in campaigning.
Sublime.
Ben Carson has quit on his campaign for some time now. He just doesn’t know it yet.
I guess my point was to vent frustration with Cruz for getting caught up in the whole tweet flap. Shouldn’t happen. He should stand for something more than just being about winning. Me? I’m firing whoever did it. Was it a whole lot of people? Then I’m firing a whole lot of people. Was it my top guy (Steve King)? Then, my top guy just dragged me into something that he should have known was going to be turned into something that would dominate the news and get our campaign off task for a while—and I’m firing him!
Some of his supporters say they are okay with these tactics. That may well be, but it is not them that Cruz needs to convince, is it? Many here have laced their posts with accusations of blind obedience/messiah worship on the part of others. Turning a blind eye to negatives doesn’t make negatives go away, it makes you look blind. Can’t have that in the next president. And his supporters cannot allow him to get away with such blindness, either. Blindness (to the Constitution) has already gotten us pretty far down the hole we’re in.
