No More Games in Syria: Russian Airstrikes Pulverize 'Moderate' Rebels for 36 Straight Hours
Russia Insider ^ | 2-5-2015 | Rudy Panko

It's a bad time to be a "moderate" in Syria: Even the Washington Post is now reporting that Al-Nusra and other freedom-loving moderate groups are losing the war.

As the SAA closes in on Aleppo, Russia is paving the way for a new offensive in northern Homs.

And by "paving the way", we really mean "36 hours of continuous airstrikes"

For 36 straight hours, the Russian Air Force has pulverized the Islamist rebel defenses in northern Homs, as the Syrian Arab Army’s 47th Brigade of the 11th Tank Division and the National Defense Forces (NDF) prepare to strike the imperative villages of Harbinifseh and Kisseen that are located along the Orontes River.

According to a senior officer from the Syrian Arab Army, the Russian Air Force’s powerful airstrikes over northern Homs are part of the largest aerial campaign launched by the Russian Federation since the advent of their participation in the Syrian Conflict

Trusted western media outlets are already crying foul, accusing Russia and Assad of derailing peace talks.

The reality is that the west and its Arab client states wanted terrorist groups to have a seat at the negotiating table, which was (rightfully) unacceptable to Moscow.

It looks like Russia has found a more effective way of negotiating with Al-Nusra and Ahrar Al-Sham: Surrender or be turned to dust.

Remember, these poor innocent Syrians that want freedom are the same people who are raping Europe right now.

Bless you. You've just expressed the situation in one succinct sentence.

The re [Russia] is propping up a secular dictatorship in an Islamic country. A rare thing these days.

Putin is taking over the Middle East with its oil wealth by controlling three legs of a geographical chair: Syria, Yemen, Iran.

Expected outcome of a power vacuum. Would you rather have China take it over?

Whatever Putin is doing, he is instilling some fear in the Arabs and making sure they know they are not welcome in Russia.

He’s great because he is doing what your Glorious Leader is totally incapable of conceiving, because he is killing the slime that infest Syria, because he understands how ME and Arab politics work which neither you nor your hero 0bama can.

Islamic countries will always be at war in one way or another with each other as they have been for the past 1000 years, and each will always have a strong and ruthless leader as they always have.

You just do not understand how this part of the world works and seem to want some Mr Milquetoast to head these countries - never happen. Strength measured by ruthlessness is the only quality to be a good leader there. Get over it.

Egypt has been fighting ISIS in Libya for sometime, just not in the news - except very rarely.

You are referring to the Sykes-Picot Treaty. I think we are seeing the unraveling of that in spite of what other world powers do.
Obamas Arab Spring has opened Pandoras box and all hell has broken loose.

In hindsight it might have been smarter to let the Russians continue to pulverize the Afghans in the 1980’s instead of supplying the missiles the helped the Muslims beat the Rusians.

al Qaeda is America’s Enemy after 911.

so. why is Obama, Clinton, Kerry and McCain
supporting them, helping them, and calling them
‘moderates’ to hide their TREASON?

Certainly not Obama

Nor any of the brain dead idiots on this forum who thought G.W. Bush’s plan to reconfigure the military for asymmetrical warfare was a good idea.

Here is why many of us approve of Putin’s Syria actions: The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

There are few US friends in Syria. From Assad to al-Nusra to ISIS, they are all our enemies. Turkey is becoming an enemy of the West. They are all greedy, bloodthirsty psychopaths.

So, I don’t much care who bombs these creatures back to Hell. Too, the filled body bags are headed home to Russia, not back to the US. But I am especially glad our military is not (yet) being led into defeat by the most incompetent, America hating president in our history.

Why people think this thug Putin is so great escapes me. Less than 30% of Russian hits are on ISIS targets.

Why anyone would think that ISIS is the only set of bad guys in Syria escapes me.

Christians in Iraq were a lot better off under Saddam than they are under the U.S. puppet government, and the Christians in Syria are a lot better off under the Assads than they would be under any Saudi or U.S. (Muslim Brotherhood) puppets. And the Egyptian Christians are a lot better off under the former and current governments than they would have been under Hillary's temporary Muslim Brotherhood government.

So while Assad is a bad guy (all Muslims are to some extent) he's not nearly as bad as the options. And he wouldn't have had to turn to the Iranians and Russians if the US and France had a sane Mideast policy. And reasonable rules of engagement.

There’s at least one undeniable, positive fact resulting from Russia’s involvement in Syria: lots and lots of radical muslims are being killed.

The moderates are not the enemy. Russia is actually helping ISIS so they can restrict the flow of oil and raise prices

Putin is a chicken- Turkey shot down the Russian fighter and Putin went fetal. Plus Ukraine’s impromptu militia humiliated his elite invasion troops

Give it up. Putin is a dead man walking
