New audio obtained exclusively by Breitbart News indicates that as the Iowa caucuses began on Monday night, the campaign called precinct captains informing them that Dr. Ben Carson was suspending campaigning, and instructing them to tell voters they should “not waste a vote on Ben Carson and vote for Ted Cruz.â€
The calls were placed after the Carson campaign had already clarified that Carson was not suspending his campaign.
Nancy Bliesman, a precinct captain for Cruz in Crawford County, Iowa, told Breitbart News that she received two voice mails–one at 7:07 p.m. Central Standard Time (CST), and one at 7:29 p.m.–on the night of the Iowa caucuses, which began at 7:00 p.m.
The first call came from a woman with a phone number out of Galveston, Texas at 7:07 p.m. (transcript follows audio):
[inaudible]…from the Ted Cruz campaign, calling to get to a precinct captain, and it has just been announced that Ben Carson is taking a leave of absence from the campaign trail, so it is very important that you tell any Ben Carson voters that for tonight, uh, that they not waste a vote on Ben Carson, and vote for Ted Cruz. He is taking a leave of absence from his campaign. All right? Thank you. Bye.
The second voicemail was left at 7:29 p.m. from an Iowa phone number that Breitbart News traced back to a Cruz campaign volunteer hotline.
Hello, this is the Cruz campaign with breaking news: Dr. Ben Carson will be [garbled] suspending campaigning following tonights caucuses. Please inform any Carson caucus goers of this news and urge them to caucus for Ted instead. Thank you. Good night.

Trump didn’t pull dirty crap on caucus night when votes were being counted. Ted Cruz, the “principled” conservative did that.

I think Trump was stunned as how dirty it was. His after caucus speech was very nice. He congratulated Ted. He seemed very happy and so did his family. That was before he heard about Ted’s dirty tricks.

I would have happily voted for Ted as the nominee because I actually thought he was principled. But now voting for Ted as the nominee will be just another “cream of the crap” vote for me.

Taking a leave of absence. That is correct. Carson may want to change what he told people and what his schedule told people, but it’s out there, and he’s being disingenuous.

It’s working! Report about some phony outrage that involves both Trump and Cruz, so supporters, frothing at the mouth, turn on each other. Who benefits? Marco Rubio, and LOOK- his stock is rising. The GOPe is delighted.
Carson bought a bus and had someone drive it around. He did not seriously campaign in Iowa.
You Trump people may have taken your dissonance to the point of no return. If that’s the case, I’m sorry for you, but there still may be time. Your captain is letting you down. He’s come unglued. You don’t have to go with him.
This article changes absolutely nothing about what we already know. Carson’s scatterbrained campaign is what caused all of this. CNN reported that he was probably getting out. That makes sense. You don’t go home to get clothes and schedule no appearances in NH and SC if you’re serious about winning. All he’s doing is taking votes from a real conservative who serious about restoring constitutional governance, and all he’s doing is using a campaign contributions for his book tour.
This explains the sudden change in polling results.

Neither voice mail said anything about dropping out. This is completely consistent with what Cruz said happened, it’s consistent with what was reported, and it most likely reflects the truth. Carson, whatever he calls it, is not campaigning, is not serious about winning, and people are wasting their votes on him.

You cannot quantify damages, or the lack thereof, in an actual event, by an assumed outcome of that event.
The problem for Ted is damages ARE assumed because of the apology.
It’s pretty significant that a Trumpbot is posting this. And it’s Ironic, since a few months ago your guy was comparing Carson to pedophiles. The only reason Trumpbots, including the corrupt Breitbart.com, are keeping this story alive is they think it will hurt Cruz and help Ducking Donald.
It confirms they have voice mail of what was already said. Breitbart, since they’re bought off by Trump, are the ones pulling a fast one.
It does not matter at all what your opinion of what Carson is doing or not doing is.
You are attempting to white wash what Cruz and Rubio did by justifying it and rationalizing it and making it okay, because Carson isn’t serious anyway.
No news outlet reported that Carson is dropping out, and no news outlet suggested that Carson’s voters shouldn’t waste their vote on him, but rather should look at supporting Cruz or Rubio.
Cruz and Rubio chose to do that, and then they did it.
That is all there is to it.
Your twisting the issue: the voice mails claim Carson is suspending. The first one implies it, the second specifically says it. Carson never claimed he was suspending, and even CNN was reporting he was not suspending.
