Unless Cruz supports impeaching Roberts, it means nothing to say he “supports” or “does not support” Roberts.

Does Cruz support stripping abortion, gay marriage, and Obamacare from the jurisdiction of the Supreme Court?

Question to anyone...

Ted Cruz helped write George W. Bush's immigration platform in 1999-2000.

In 2005-2006, did Ted Cruz ever make public statements about the Bush-McCain Amnesty - either for or against?

Thanks.

Didn’t see a single negative comment about Roberts on FR when he was appointed. Please link us to yours from 2005.

He was quite gracious that evening. Thereafter he went back to campaigning.

Cruz - 1.
DT - too numerous to count.
None of DT’s flip bother you.
The selective amnesia of Trumpees is breathtaking.

I can’t wait to read the new round of tweets this morning. DT must be exploding = how dare a poll put him at 25% nationally? How dare Cruz and Rubio be tied 4 points behind? How dare anyone call him a sore loser? Does he need to say “wall” a lot today?

Eveybody thought John Roberts was going to be good in 2005. Remember the whole Harriet Myers thing? I don't remember anyone who thought Roberts would go back. Find someone who did. And he mostly was until the whole ACA thing. Since then, it's been a different story.

But I don't know of a single conservative who was warning about Roberts. He had a solid track record. I thought Janice Rogers Brown would be better, but there was nothing negative about Roberts.

Roberts appeared to be a very good choice in 2005. Things change. The one characteristic that was not taken into account is that Roberts was taking Dilantin, or so it was reported. That and other anti-seizure drugs should make someone unacceptable for the Court because it has effects on the mind that are totally at odds with service on the Bench.
Due to head trauma in 1972 I was put on Dilantin and stayed on it for 14 years. During that time I progressively lost my will power and there were progressive effects on my perception and very short term memory. As no doctor can afford to take a patient off Dilantin (a doctor who prescribes it is forever liable for any mishaps or crimes involving a patient after being taken off) I was kept on it way past the need. I ran out on a 6 weeks commercial fishing trip that should have been a 2 and my perception improved just a tad and I realized I was not having seizures and was able to quit taking the stuff. My return to something like mental normalcy was a slow process and lasted several years. My memory is still somewhat impaired. So for perhaps 16-17 years my will power was such that I could not say no to someone to whom I had had a relationship of trust or whom I regarded as an authority. I recognize these effects in other people I know and have known.

I’m okay with Cruz changing his mind on John Roberts. I read a lot of Roberts’ writing before the nomination, and I believed he was an honorable man and a conservative. Making that mistake was natural because there was so much evidence in support of that belief.

If Cruz was unwilling to revise that opinion based on overwhelming evidence that Roberts is not what he pretended to be, or at least is subject to blackmail, then Cruz would be a fool. Of course we were all wrong about Chief Justice Roberts, and Cruz at least is honest enough to admit it.

I worry that Cruz supporters (including me) could be wrong in our belief that Cruz is a genuine conservative. I worry that Trump supporters (and Trump is my second choice) could be wrong about Trump being the right person for the job at this critical point in our history. We always have to judge based on external evidence, and sometimes we are wrong. That’s costly but unavoidable.

Cruz has horrible judgment. He talks a lot and accomplishes nothing. He is perfect for the Senate.

We were all pretty happy with Roberts when he was nominated. Then he betrayed us. We all hate him now.

Cruz is no different.

I did also.

I originally thought Roberts was an excellent choice but after the “ObamaCare” ruling I have reversed my opinion of him.

I’ve often wondered if the whole NSA data mining project that is ongoing hasn’t dredged up “something” that is being held over Roberts’ head.

From 2012:
In the below article it says Seven years ago...

That is a tremendous amount of time for things to change... Roberts either has been corrupted or blackmailed.
Regardless. I think it is fair to say he hasn't lived up to what Cruz thought of him.

It is quite silly to blame Cruz for not being able to predict the future.

John Roberts is No Longer Appearing on Conservative Merit Badges

Seven years ago, during the confirmation hearings for John Roberts, Texas Solicitor General Ted Cruz penned a gushing op-ed for National Review.

-snip-

Not anymore. When Roberts helped save "Obamacare," Cruz immediately blasted the Court for having "abdicated its responsibility to safeguard the Constitution." He didn't mention Roberts by name, but he insisted that the decision was more proof that Republicans needed to reject Cruz's opponent, Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst. "My opponent is, by nature and by over a decade of political office, a conciliator. Now is not a time for conciliation."

So here is the condensed timeline:

1995 - While clerking for Chief Justice William Rehnquist, I and my two fellow law clerks asked the chief whom he thought was the best Supreme Court lawyer currently practicing. The chief replied, with a twinkle in his eye, that he thought he could probably get a majority of his colleagues to agree that John Roberts was the best Supreme Court advocate in the nation.
2000 - Cruz recruits Roberts to assist Bush team in Florida Recount for about a week.
July 20, 2005 -
Roberts Nominated For Supreme Court
July 20, 2005 - Ted Cruz writes article support roberts
August 4, 2005 - Drudge says new york times is investigating Roberts adoption papers

Apparently when the Democrats realized they could control a Supreme Court Justice’s vote through blackmail over his having committed a number of international crimes the Times pulled back and dropped its investigation. The Democrat paper of record pulled back because it didn’t want to ” break the seal of an adoption case” – as if violating laws ever means anything to Democrats in their quest for power. Keep in mind Barack Obama’s violation of his opponents “sealed” divorce records propelled him to a US Senate seat.

September 12, 2005 - Senate confirmation hearing began for Roberts. I have found no mention whatsoever of Roberts possible adoption problems, being brought up in the confirmation
September 30, 2005 - John Roberts Confirmed. All 55 Republicans, hallf of the Democrats and an independent voted Yes.

now skip forward 10 years later in the year 2015

June 20, 2015 - Chief Justice John Roberts broke with his three conservative colleagues on the Supreme Court and voted to uphold a key provision of the Affordable Care Act
June 29, 2015 - Texas Sen. Ted Cruz says ......Roberts “put on an Obama jersey” in writing the majority opinion in the last two landmark court cases on Obamacare.
June 30, 2015 - “Mr. Cruz was so enraged by the health-care ruling — as well as last week’s decision, not supported by Mr. Roberts, upholding gay marriage — that Mr. Cruz is calling for a constitutional amendment that would require Mr. Roberts and other Justices to stand for election every 8 years.

How well do you know anyone you have briefly worked with?
Looking at the above timeline, how was Cruz supposed to know when he wrote his article of support that Roberts had possibly secret illegal adoption of children from Ireland, and that the Democrats had leverage for blackmail?

How this is labeled a flip flop after 10 years is silly. No one new about Roberts until the obamacare case.
Cruz should be clairvoyant 10 years out.
Trump trashes Scalia December 2015 - Not one Trumpee cares.
Is there anything right about this picture?

Cruz and Trump should start repeatedly reminding voters what a disgrace Roberts is. That will result in questions being asked of the establishment about Roberts and when the establishment starts giving their wishy washy responses it will remind republicans exactly what we dislike most about the establishment.
