Carter: ‘I Think I Would Choose Trump’ Over Cruz [Cruz is not malleable]
The Daily Caller ^ | February 4, 2016 | Christian Datoc

Posted on 02/03/2016 10:32:29 PM PST by Cincinatus' Wife

Former President Jimmy Carter surprised reporters in London Wednesday by saying he would choose Donald Trump over Ted Cruz to win the 2016 Republican presidential nomination, "which may surprise some of you."

Carter stated that given the choice, "I think I would choose Trump.... Trump has proven already he's completely malleable,” reports The Atlanta Journal Constitution.

"I don't think he has any fixed (positions) he'd go the White House and fight for. On the other hand, Ted Cruz is not malleable. He has far right wing policies he'd pursue if he became president."

Still, Carter feels Trump will "fade away" in the general election and said he will support the eventual Democratic nominee.

"Bernie Sanders has had a remarkable showing, particularly among young people," he continued. "In Iowa, he had 85 percent of young people. I don't know what the final result will be. My own personal opinion is that it's very likely Hillary Clinton will still prevail in the Democratic party. Of course, I'm a Democrat and I will support the nominee."

That was an endorsement, or perhaps a pseudo-endorsement, that Trump didn't really want. Here's a surprising poll showing a YUGE Trump lead over his GOP competition that Trump probably doesn't want either. He gets more support than ALL the rest combines on the GOP side, although he still loses big to both Bernie and Hillary. But then, who knew CAIR did polls?

Oh, that’s so cool. Why didn’t I think of Reagan? I actually have that photo of Franklin on my Freeper profile. I loved hearing the story of him before parliament as a child. It is truly an example of the American spirit.

I bet Carter would give a long pause when asked if he supports Clinton or Trump.

It’s important to note because dems are absolutely confident they’ll be able to make ‘deals’ with Trump and deals with dems always mean them getting what they want.

Cruz got a significant amount of the undecideds in Iowa who made their decision in the final week.

He is already pivoting as needed for NH.

Just give it time, he can pull blue collar dems and independents as they get to know him. Plus, Trump is having trouble getting his personal attacks against Cruz to stick.

I remember the gas lines..

Even/Odd plate numbers would determine which days your family could buy gas.. at least in Massachusetts not sure about everywhere else at the time.

My dad was driving into Boston at the time from the “suburbs” and my oldest brother was in High School at the time had a car so they would have to switch cars, a lot, and my brother would have to take the bus sometimes when there wasn't enough gas to get Dad to work.

I learned to “drive” from having to steer an out of gas car being pushed along in the gas lines back then, my brother learned to always try to fill his tank, so we could siphon out, so Dad could get to work and back home....

While those lines of people in our small town (13k or less) were fairly pleasant, I do remember at there were times that were not...God Help Us if we don't remember what got us there in the first place

Carter wants the Republicans to run the least disciplined, most alienating, and least experienced candidate. He wants the “deal maker” who will, if he were to win, drop his beliefs and cut deals with the Democrats, whom he so recently was funding and supporting with his words. No thanks, Jimmy. We don’t need your advise on whom to vote for.

“KGB Putin is pulling for Trump too, as are most if not all of the FR Putinistas (naturally).”

If you are Putin, would you expect the U.S. voters to vote for or against the candidate endorsed by yourself?

You might think about putting your next drink down the drain, and all the rest in the days that follow.

You have stuned your own beeber.

And you must protect yourself because a mouse might eat your cheese.

Non-sequitur. There’s no guarantee that they’ll always get what they want if Trump is negotiating with them.

FR THREAD: Trump's cash crunch

"Count me in with those who suspect that Donald Trump is no billionaire, but merely a poseur who may never have recovered from his many big-deal failures, as AT and others have already noted. Ted Cruz is finally bringing this idea up, but it's a testimony to just how opaque Trump has made his finances that only recently has anyone outside the financial press even discussed the matter.".........

Carter would be one of those super-intelligent “experts” that Trump would hire to give him advice.

Since there are so many mindless misguided dopes in our country today who actually believe Putin to be some sort of "hero", I'd say it would, in this ridiculously stupid day and age we're living, be a positive for Trump. He doesn't seem to have lost any support at all after Putin gave him those gushing compliments, or after his numerous efforts sticking up for and defending various things Putin is believed to have done.

The vast majority of people have no clue how Russia operates. That they have a broader goal in the Middle East. That it's just part of a scheme to restore Russian power throughout the region and world. Many probably couldn't even name any of the former Soviet states being threatened today in eastern Europe by resurgent Russia.

Good frigging grief. First you reply to WhiskeyX when it was obviously me who said those things about Putin and his supporters here. Then you carry on like you didn't know Trump's admirer (Vladimir Putin) was a member of Russia's KGB (for 16 years, before heading up the more modern equivalent of it, the FSB). Next you act like you just joined this site yesterday. How could you not know what a FR Putinista is after all of these years? (13+ according to your profile)
