Ted Cruz apologized to Dr. Ben Carson on Tuesday after the Texas senator's campaign was accused of trying to sabotage his opponent's chances in the Iowa caucuses.
Cruz's campaign blasted out a report Monday night that suggested Carson was going home to Florida instead of campaigning after the Iowa caucuses - something Cruz said Tuesday is "fair game" - but admitted that the campaign should have corrected that report when it became clear Carson wasn't dropping out of the race. He was just going home to get "fresh clothes."

Technically you are correct. It looks, however—as it was almost certainly intended to look—as if the bulldozer is trashing the house.
If the Trump campaign had pulled something like that on Cruz, people would be screaming bloody murder.
But since Carson is an unimportant candidate, pulling that **** on him was “fair game” (Cruz’s words).
The end justifies the means, right?
Yep, it’s all part of the dishonesty that the ad presents.
He wasn’t going to get clothes. I just heard Rand Paul is dropping out. Time for Ben to go too
If it's on Twitter, it must be true. /sarc
BREAKING: @moody has learned @realbencarson will return to FL following #IAcaucus, will not go to either NH or SC https://t.co/jl8NOY9KEx

It’s also on FR. :)
If you were Carson, would you think that way?
Did Trump TRY to use eminent domain - by influencing politicians to push for it?
I know he wasn’t successful at it because the woman fought him. She’d have gained more to buy at the price they offered to compensate her so I’m not saying that it was necessarily an unfair offer, but it was an attempt to use eminent domain for his financial gain. Trump has admitted that campaign donations to some politicians is “the cost of doing business” - and that’s how you get politicians to try eminent domain for you. That’s the world that Trump has lived in.
The ad was not truthful on the details/facts. The gist of how Trump does business - as may have to be the case for somebody rich - is probably accurate, though I can’t say because I haven’t seen the ad and haven’t researched the whole thing.
That doesn’t excuse calling him a liar in this CArson instance, which is what this thread is about. People are claiming there is a pattern of behavior; to say that you have to have more than one point, so the lie about Cruz lying is necessary to make that argument. Thus I am asking you to tell me the exact words of Cruz’s “lie”.
Someone should have told the other candidates teams also then, because cruz camp wasn’t the only ones pushing the narrative.
carson was NOT going to win in IA.
I live here. there is little fire for his campaign for the last few months. trust me, I have my ear to the ground here.
this “flap” had no bearing on the outcome of this caucus. I was at my local caucus on monday night...carson got a handful of votes out of the approximately 200 people in the room. I heard NOTHING about this...until I read about it on FR on tuesday. no one wsa talking about it on monday night in my caucus. NO ONE. it was not mentioned, at all.
So all the other candidates were using dirty deeds when they put the individual out there also?
“Carson made it look like he was quitting.”
Carson never hinted he was quitting. He wanted to go home, probably to rest or who knows, and get out before the approaching storm.
“CNNâs speculation was that everybody knows if you donât go to NH and SC it means youâre dropping out.”
CNN never speculated Carson was dropping out.
For the third time, citizens cannot use, or try to use, eminent domain. Only the state can use it. The state tried and failed. Trump did not try and fail bc he is a mere citizen, and citizens cannot use eminent domain.
Please don’t ask me to post this info a fourth time; thank you.
Trump claims that Cruz shouldn’t be elected because he doesn’t know how to “deal” with people like McConnell. He should have made a deal with McConnell instead of exposing what was going on. Exactly how is that different than what Cruz thought he was doing based on the promises McConnell made which he then found out McConnell didn’t live up to - so he exposed the crooked “dealing” that McConnell was doing. Trump seems to be saying that Cruz was good to make the deal but bad to expose the crookedness of the R leadership.
I am undecided between Trump and Cruz, but I’m troubled by the actions and responses of both men. I think that Cruz being willing to expose the crap within the system is closer to what we need than Trump’s idea of making deals. We’ve had enough of DC’s “sausage” to last a long time.
But as I’ve said before, I don’t think the new POTUS-elect will ever be inaugurated, unless we get some REAL stuff - not “sausage” - out of DC very, very quickly - specifically to get our portable radar system to cover the hole in our southern radar defense so we could stop an EMP attack by Obama’s buddies the Iranians, who Obama has made sure would have nukes by the end of his last term so he can be POTUS for “8-10 years” as he said he would be in July of 2008.
“Cruz said he did not know he was a Canadian citizen.”
That would have to be a strange thing to say, seeing that he does not have a birth certificate from any of the 50 states. What do you think Cruz has been using for a substitute, say, when he went to get his driver’s license? Would that not cause an even not-so-brilliant lawyer to ponder over the circumstance?
One article said that the precinct where Mrs. Carson was there to correct the mistake ended up going for Carson. The exit polls showed that a large number of people made up their minds at the last minute, and if Carson did so much better than the polls had been showing, it could well be that Carson GAINED votes from this, because the places where voters may have been angered by what they thought was “dirty politics” (because of the timing of the CNN report) were large precincts with lots of votes.
Carson has no campaign events planned, anywhere. It seems likely that he planned on making his big announcement this week but wanted the IA results first, to see exactly where he was at. If I was an IA voter I would be very conflicted over whether to stick with Carson, knowing he wasn’t planning to campaign. I don’t think it’s out of bounds for Cruz to recognize that concern; nobody wants to throw their vote away. By the same token, I don’t blame Carson for wanting to see where he stood and to be able to make his own announcement. He should have thought about that before speaking to CNN.
Did you listen to the video of the CNN clip? Not one small speck of doubt that they were saying it looked like Carson was dropping out. The gal said outright that everybody knows you don’t skip NH and SC unless you’re dropping out.
The problem with that logic is that according to the entrance polls, Carson had about 9% of the voters walking into the caucuses. At the end of the night, Carson had - 9% of the voters. So you can reasonably conclude that the error didn't cost Carson many votes, if any at all, and it did not help Cruz. So Trump's whining about Cruz "stealing" the election is just sour grapes.
