Gallup: Trump Has Highest Unfavorable Rating of Any Candidate Ever

Donald Trump has the highest unfavorable rating since Gallup began tracking the indicator for nominated candidates from either political party during the 1992 elections. Just two days before the Iowa caucuses, 60 percent of Americans surveyed view Trump unfavorably, versus 33 percent who see him favorably.

By comparison, Democrat Hillary Clinton's rating is 52 percent, while Jeb Bush's is 45 percent. Chris Christie's is at 38 percent, while Ted Cruz's is 37 percent. Sen. Marco Rubio's rating is 33 percent while fellow Sen. Bernie Sanders holds 31 percent and Ben Carson's rating is 30 percent.

"The bottom line is that Trump now has a higher unfavorable rating than any candidate at any time during all of these previous election cycles," said Frank Newport, Gallup's editor-in-chief.

Seems hard to believe, but I guess truly broadly disliked candidates don't get enough press to have such high negatives; inconsequential folks like Gov. O'Malley have low positives, but high undecideds, not such high negatives.

FWIW, I dislike Trump because he has in the past very clearly communicated very liberal opinions, but the comments that people have interpreted as indicating he's now a conservative have always been much more ambiguous, despite being so blunt in mere rhetoric.

I believe you should pick the most conservative viable candidate, not the most electable conservative, as Trump has deliberately twisted Buckley's maxim. So if I believed Trump were the most conservative, I would still support him.

But so many on FR seem mesmerised by the notion that he's going to expand the party. The plain fact is that Trump is miserably unpopular. Nominating Trump is certain defeat.

This unpopularity dimension of Trump is something he’s cultivated. When a bulldozer is knocking down a building, the building isn’t happy.

Trump supporters will not care. On the one hand, the crow about everybody already know Trump, that the Dems will not be able to define him and how that will help him in the general election. But when you point out that everybody knows him and almost 2/3 of the people don’t like him, the put their hands over their ears. Since Trump is already such a known quantity, and so many people already don’t like him, jut how is he going to change their minds and get them to vote for him?

Then he should have been where Jeb was in Iowa yesterday but instead with no money hardly spent and no ground game reported he still placed 3 points behind Cruz and 15 points over lovable Carson.

Sounds to me like Americans have just had it with politicians. I know have. They all are "unpopular" with me. The way I see it, those who don't want to work to support themselves have three options in Soetoro's new fundamentally deformed America. You either go on welfare, apply for disability or you become a politician.

More spin dangus? What’s to say that at the end of the day, Cruz really isn’t a conservative, but rather, just Rubio lite? Fact is, we really don’t know any of these men because they are most likely, like Obola, blowing smoke up our collective a$$es!

RE:”Gallup: Trump Has Highest Unfavorable Rating of Any Candidate Ever,

But don't look over here, look over there instead,

Those polls don't count, only the ones showing him ahead do.

Other Senators hate Cruz......especially McCain....

Vote Trump....because he can control the media cycle.....

When media couldn’t use 1on1 comparison polls because its bad for their candidate, they use other polls like unfavorable ratings to spin a negative narrative

If unfavorable rating is so important, don’t you think Bush would’ve gotten more votes in Iowa?

I live in California. I fell for Schwarzenegger. I see a lot of similarities between Schwarzenegger and Trump. Both are media stars. Both have a history of telling conservatives what conservatives want to hear when running for election. I know what happened after Arnold was elected. He turned his back on conservatism and started making deals with Democrats. Trump says he likes Schumer and Pelosi and can make deals with them. No wonder Trumps did not win the Iowa caucus. No political chameleons please.

“Trump supporters will not care”

Nor should we.

You want to be liked, then you are no different than Dole, and McCain.

Same here I have had it. I want Cruz, but the mailing and the telling Carson voters did not impress me as that is what the establishment does.

As a friend of mine said, “The one candidate with almost 100% voter recognition, which isn’t necessarily a good thing, since 60% of them don’t like him.”

That Hillary’s numbers are so high is testament to the stupidity of the DemocRat voters.
