As the Iowa caucus results rolled in Monday night, the wheels were surely turning in the minds of editors at the New York Daily News. Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump â the local entry and a favorite tabloid target â was losing to Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas. Which way to go with Tuesday's cover?
There were so many options. "Iowans fire The Donald"? Nah. A "you're fired" joke is too predictable. "Trump is a loser?" It would've just been white noise. Too many people were already turning Trump's favorite insult around on Twitter.
Instead, the Daily News went with a running theme: "Dead clown walking" â a sequel to "Clown runs for prez" (June 17) and "Insane clown posse" (Jan. 21). Actually, it goes back further than that â to "Sideshow Don" (April 11, 2011), when Trump was toying with the idea of a 2012 White House bid.

Thank you for your thoughts.
I don’t think anyone here is going to back Rubio.
He hasn’t been getting more than one or two votes in the FR Caucus, and he doesn’t stand for the same things Trump does.
With apologies, I’m not registering the ARRs right now.
Perhaps I should be...
Thank you Grandpa Dave.
Time to adjust the system to be more equitable. >$1000's of dollars per vote average? Time to change.
Bottom line Delegate count to date: Cruz 8, Trump 7, Rubio 7, Carson 3, Bush 1, Paul 1
silly daily news...
