Texas Rep. John Culberson, chairman of the House Appropriations subcommittee that oversees the Department of Justice, warned Attorney General Loretta Lynch he'll use his budget authority if she doesnât move to shut down sanctuary cities, the Washington Times reports.
"This is a complicated problem with a simple solution," Culberson said, the Times reports. "State and local law enforcement agencies should not receive federal law enforcement grant money unless they are in compliance with federal law."
Culberson points out federal law requires local governments to cooperate with immigration agents.
In a letter to Lynch, Culberson is demanding she include a certification for localities applying for Byrne Justice Assistance Grants â the community-oriented police office assistance program â and the State Criminal Alien Assistance Program vowing they're in compliance with federal laws, including cooperating with Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.

My Congressman John Culberson is a sellout as he backed Boehner, then Ryan and voted with Ryan against the majority of Republicans to approve the Obama Omnibus bill which funded ALL Obama's budget including funding of illegals, funding of 'refugees' from Syria, funded Planned Parenthood, and funding Sanctuary Cities.
He needs to be primaried as he is faced that has emerged.
If he once again wins, he will revert to the RINO GOPe as he has always been.
conservative only when someone is looking
Yet another traitor to he electorate...practicing Kabuki.
“conservative only when someone is looking”
Nearly all of them are!
He is being forced to back away from his funding vote as a strong anti-illegal primary opponent has emerged.
He will go down as the GOPe is going down as we speak in Iowa.
Absolutely agree. Culberson gets Conservative “religion” before every primary, but this year is different. He has two good challengers - James Lloyd and Maria Espinoza. If Culberson is kept to below 50 percent (easier when their are more challengers), then the primary will go to a runoff. He’s my congressman, too, and I hope this is his last gasp.
always happy when a rino gets knocked out of office
Crackdown on the illegal employers! It’s time to face facts: The illegal aliens are only here because of the traitors who give them jobs. Throw those traitors in prison where they belong, and that will send the rats running!
Blaa blah blah. Another of the GOP paper tigers...whimpers. this would be funny if it wasn't so insulting to our intelligence. I can't fully express the contempt I hold for these liars.
“Throw those traitors in prison where they belong...”
Plenty of those in both parties.
Don’t feel lonely my Congressman had his nose up Boehners butt and now he has it up Ryan’s.
Yep. He’ll run his ick sump for a bit on whatever issue then walk away from it, like all the spineless, corrupt, degenerate morale cowards of the GOP have been doing for decades now.
There’s only 2 types of professional GOP anymore. The corrupt and cowardly, and those that play accessory to the corruption and cowardice by refusing to confront it.
I know.... They talk a good game and I expect there to be a lot of talk coming from the GOP over the next few months with a major election coming up.
Is he facing a challenger? I think the deadline has passed in TX to file?

Great news, thanks. I wish you all luck in replacing him!
Looks like we’ll be stuck with McCaul, who votes like Culberson, for another two years as he has no challenger.
Making my primary selections...they do not make it easy! Which of Culberson’s challengers do y’all prefer? I am leaning Espinoza as she seems strongest on border security / immigration control.
Wish Devon Anderson had a primary challenger!
Any other Texas / Harris County recommendations will be gladly received. On the 1 hand we have endorsement robocalls coming from other states, & other candidates I can’t even find a website for...and those “conservative” voter guides I do not trust at all.
I think Espinoza can win.
I supported Mike Anderson as CA and Devon as I thought she would be like him.
Big mistake on my part. She is more like the last mayor.
