Sarah Palin appeared on CNN this afternoon to explain why, despite endorsing him for Senate four years ago and being good friends with him, she dropped Ted Cruz for Donald Trump in the presidential election.
Tapper asked, "What tipped the scales?" Palin said, "It became a much less difficult decision once some inconsistencies started coming out about Cruz's position on amnesty, on building that wall and securing our jobs and our homes."
She even said Cruz would be "more of the same."

“Lol. Are you drunk?”
Are we to construe that insult and personal attack to mean you concede Ted Cruz argued for amnesty and you are trying to change the subject to avoid an acknowledgement of that truth?
“Regards to Touchback Donnie.”
I have not endorsed Donald Trump or nay other candidate, so your juvenile attempt to insult as a means of changing the subject away from the truth Ted Cruz argued for amnesty and now falsely denies doing so has failed.
Show me where Cruz talks about rounding up all law breaking, sneaking through the border, murdering, raping, illicit drug smuggling, ILLEGALS????
Why is it a surprise, when Rafael Edward Cruz wrote Bush-43’s immigration policy papers?
I just heard it on CNN: Cruz camp inconsistency. Cruz says Trump wants single payer for health insurance. Trump calls Ted a liar.
Trump wants to remove or repeal the law about boundaries that keep state health care insurances from selling outside their state lines.
If there is 10 to 15 health insurance companies per state average or whatever the number the average is; Multiplying 50 x 10 = 500 insurance companies that results in 500 choices for the buyer. This isn’t single payer - It’s 500 payer or 1,000 paying insurance companies choices that that have insurance plans for the consumer where they only had a handful before.
Ya but Trump flipped from bad to good...Many of us have done that in our lives...It's when you go from good to bad that really stands out...
Cruz wrote Geo W Bush’s immigration (Amnesty) policies?
Whow. Why haven’t the Cruz people here on FR done a better job of vetting their candidate?
“But letâs not criticize Sarah Palin. Leave her out of this.”
Ole screechy voice put herself in it. Her true colors have come out. She has screeched herself into political oblivion.
Nonsense. I don't conveniently leave things out.
I gave you the full excerpt on the citizenship amnesty question.
Moving on from that, Trump was then asked about the 1.8 million Dreamers.
And it's you who left out the full context of that section.
BASH: What about the dreamers? What about people who came here when they were children, they didn't know what they were doing, they came with their parents who brought them here illegally? Now many of them are upstanding citizens.
We -- again, you're right. We don't know exactly how many people, but about maybe even 1.8 million people fall into this category. Should they be able to stay legally?
TRUMP: We're going to do something. I have been giving it so much thought.
You have -- on a humanitarian basis, you have a lot of deep thought going into this, believe me. I actually have a big heart, something that nobody knows. A lot of people don't understand that. But the dreamers, it's a tough situation. We're going to do something. And one of the things we are going to do is expedite. When someone is terrific, we want them back here.
BASH: Should they have to leave too?
TRUMP: But they have to be legally.
They're with their parents, it depends. But, look, it sounds cold, and it sounds hard. We have a country. Our country is going to hell. We have to have a system where people are legally in our country.
What do you suppose is the "it" that sounds cold and hard?
The answer is easily discernible and I underlined it above.
With Trump, they all leave. He has said that any criminals or those who are simply here to prey on the taxpayers will not be allowed back in. That would be a vast number of them. Of course it will be easier to keep the bad ones out if they have already been deported.
As for Cruz’ tweet, it appears to be an honest and straightforward statement. Has he disavowed it?
I'm a fan of both, and it hurts Cruz more IMHO.
I don’t know what to you pal. I told you what I meant. If you are bound and determined to be insulted have at it.
“We’re going to do something. And one of the things we are going to do is expedite. When someone is terrific, we want them back here.”
Are you serious?????!!!!! What, pray tell, is cold and hard about expediting someone back?
Wrong answer. That is definitely NOT the antecedent of “it” that I singled out.
[If she had offered her endorsement to Cruz would you have liked that?]
No. PALIN interfered with a state election, causing a true conservative to lose in a gerrymandered district. I crossed her off my + list several years ago. She is an opportunist.
I never did like Glen Beck.
You can pretend not to know what “fellow traveler” means. That doesn’t mean others have to join in the pretend.
I remember reading this someplace, I would like to post it elsewhere. Do you have source? I’ve read gazillions of articles in the last few months and just can’t remember where I read it.
“Youâre as consistent in your attacks against Cruz as the taste of a McDonaldâs Big Mac, Iâll give you that.”
That comment is a misrepresentation, because complying with the sworn oath to protect and defend the Constitution is a defensive act and the exact opposite of being an offensive attack. The comment also carefully avoids answering the questions, which observe the inconsistency between describing these people as “rock solid conservatives” even as they demolish the Constitution and its prohibition of foreign born persons from the Office of the President responsible for stopping other foreign born persons from flooding the nation with illegal immigrants and diluting the sovereign power of lawful citizens and natives of the United States. We have this problem in the first place because an foreign citizen was put into the White House, the British citizen Chester Arthur, and he selected a new Chief Justice to the Supreme Court who had a conflict of interest in the United States v. Wong Kim Ark (1898) case that was used as the justification for the anchor baby immigration problems we are experiencing today. Now you want to turn a blind eye to the fact Ted Cruz is a foreign born, former foreign citizen, naturalized U.S. citizen, ineligible to be President, and a proponent of finding a means to not deport millions of illegal aliens who have invaded the United States. If anyone is doing the attacking, it has to be Ted Cruz and his supporters who are challenging the authority of the natural born citizen clause of the Constitution and anyone who dares to defend the way in which it has been used since 1787.
I still support Sarah and take her at her word when she stated “I want Ted Cruz in the senate fighting for US. This is where he is needed” Trump will be much more effective as President” Peter’s Principal. Sen. Cruz has much to offer, and should find the nook in DC where he might make himself available to making progress in our efforts. This is in no way diminishing to Cruz from this angle. It is saying he is by no means the only one who might be fighting for us, as WTP or as a country known as The United States of America.
Every man has a job to do - Senator is For Ted Cruz. Many sewers in DC need cleaning.
Like many of your fellow travelers you’re insane.
Trump deports them all and then expedites the good ones back for a legalization amnesty. It's a touchback legalization amnesty. And he says maybe later he would consider a citizenship amnesty.
As for Cruz' tweet, it appears to be an honest and straightforward statement. Has he disavowed it?
Cruz's claim is that he was selling his poisons pill amendments. Sessions and King support Cruz's claim. One can believe it or not.
Cruz is now for fully enforcing the immigration laws through deportations and removals. And he says that he will not expedite them back.
I think the choice is pretty clear.
