The smear merchants at The Week set up a classic straw man, claiming that Trump's lead had been 50 percent to Cruz' 23 percent, and that it has shrunk dramatically -- I'd never seen any number for Trump higher than 32.
Iowans don't vote, they caucus. The Republicans have a secret ballot system, but the Democrats in Iowa do something a little more elaborate. Not sure how it all works? Vermont Public Radio made a handy video spelling it out -- with Lego.

Did mr Trump really say that?! I have to say I’m been getting a bit concerned about him — please someone tell us he didn’t really encourage his supporters to physically assault the fruited-aholes!?

I kinda like that approach scaled up to the national level. Just like CCW discourages evil doers, the threat of having the crap kicked out might discourage some nitwit who thinks it’s his right to disrupt a rally that others want to hear.

TR didn’t urge carrying a big stick just because he liked trees.

Trump is acting like any normal non-gelded male would. Why should he sit up there & be that kind of a target for these deranged leftists ?

If someone next to me was about to hurtle some object at Mr. Trump I'd kick him right in the you-know whats and then run and stand behind a security guard and watch the perp writhe.

Why didn’t he just instruct them to move away so that the Secret Service could take him out with a couple of shots to the head.

The word caucus is of Algomquin origin. The differences between the way democrat hold theirs and republicans is
democeats have 1000 sites Republicans about 700.
Republican and democratic candidates have assigned presentera who offer a 3 minute pitch ro the group assembled. The number of delegates are around 40 for the democrats and 30 for the republicans

The difference between the two is the style of voting after the presenters finish. Republicans use a secret ballot The democrats form groups where supporters of that candidate stand in them and rhe fun begins as depicted in your cartoon .

Trump is unhinged.
Not presidential material.

Ahh I remember when people were all up in arms when Obama told his followers to get in their neighbors’ faces and argue with them in favor of him. Now Trump is advocating violence and his followers are just fine with it.

I saw Roy Rogers give a speech at the opening of one of his fast food chains back in the 70’s. He got hit with a tomato from a protester of some sort.

He calmly wiped himself off and said how his wife, Dale, wasn’t there with him because she was busy giving speeches around the country about child abuse. And how everyone just saw an example of someone who could have used a lot more of it.

It was a memorable line that has stuck with me all these decades.

The Left have been attackimg our speakers with pies and otherwise for over a decade. It’s about time that such behavior involves personal risk.

All,

Stomping a tomato thrower is not assualt. It is using force to protect a fellow citizen from assualt, which is legal in most localities.

Trump’s Tomato Diplomacy

Now - no one will throw a tomato at Trump because they will experience physical harm.

This is basically how Trump will treat other countries and radical groups who want to harm Americans. I believe most of the GOP candidates would do the same as Trump. The difference is that Trump has provided a demonstration.

If this makes any Freepers/lurkers uncomfortable, perhaps Jeb Bush can explain to you how being hit by a tomato is an act of love.

He’s got secret service protection too. Anyone stupid enough to pull a stunt like that is doubly screwed.

It will be funny if one gets clapped in jail, however. Will Donald Trump pony up to compensate THAT?

God might not be too happy with Cruz misrepresenting what gospel should look like... but Trump can’t get away with infinite bullshitting either. This could be kidding, but wait till someone takes him seriously.

Legally, that might be construed as incitement. Not the best thing, especially if the dumbass tomato-thrower is injured in the melee.

I would HOPE Trump’s lawyers have a quick and urgent talk with him.

Urging the commission of a violent act, and offering a consideration for performing that act, has the potential to get him in trouble.

Unless there’s such a thing as an “American Tomato Sniper”, these projectiles could hit and injure anyone in the crowd. Therefore, any of them would be justified in stopping the behavior to protect everyone, not just Trump.
