The seemingly endless presidential campaign finally gets real Monday, with Iowa voters heading to the polls for the state's caucuses.
The candidates blitzed the Hawkeye State in a final push Sunday, making public demonstrations of their faith and getting in their last jabs.
Both the Republican and Democratic races are considered up for grabs, with the winners certain to get a burst of momentum.
In a show of solidarity with the evangelical Christians who dominate the GOP caucuses, Donald Trump began the day at a nondenominational church in Council Bluffs with his wife, Melania.
Melania Trump took Communion from a silver tray, but Trump thought it was a collection plate and reached into his pocket to donate before realizing his mistake.
"I thought it was for offering," he said later with a laugh.

LOL!!!
Man I hate when I do that!!! </s> It does show his ignorance/knowledge of the church.
I pray he start increasing his knowledge of God’s Word!!!!
Do not think he will.
God does not DEAL ON THE DONALD TERMS! We accept that He died for our sins and that we were born with sinful nature. Seems that is beyond his comprehension! He could never acknowledge that he wasn’t perfect. (jmo) No inside information..........opinion based on words spoken and deeds done.
Take care.........pilgrim
OK, then. Christians should never practice their faith outside the four walls of their churches. They should never reference Scripture in “the real world.” Doing so only makes you come across as “creepy.”
Christians should just put a cap on their faith. Maybe it’s best for them to vote for billionaire vulture capitalists, and to just shut up about Jesus already.
GOD is the Ultimate Deal maker, but it is just a one way deal. HE WINS or nothing.....Trump can't negotiate with GOD, can't happen. None of this "I Win" as Trump says Not enough to say, "well I did some good deeds and works", or bring out a dusty old bible as a crutch. or I did nothing to be forgiven for...NOPE won't work...
Money in a communion tray? rofl. Sorry but that is just simply stupid, for the most humbly smart man on the face of this planet...didn't he even see the "little crackers or little wine cups that make him feel so good?
"Heil the won"
PS: They are beginning to SCREAM now, so watch out for vicious incoming... they have finally gotten out of bed lol....have fun.......
Your tag line DEFINITELY defines the “WHOLE BALL OF WAX”!!!!!!!!!
We win and Trump also win when we lose our live to Jesus. Can’t see that happening.
Edit:
We win and Trump COULD also win when we lose our live to Jesus. Canât see that happening.
No one yells at GOD and say "You better negotiate, or I'm out of here"
It could one day happen and I pray Trump does repent, as I am not willing to see anyone in hell, but that too will happen for those who do not turn to GOD.
You're kind of a drama queen, aren't you?
LOL!!!
AND a big AMEN!!!
They wish, it makes it hard to justify and explain "the next won".
As for me and my house.......
The undistributed middle logical fallacy seems to be a big favorite with catholics. Are you a catholic?
Reminds me of the episode of All in The Family where Edith goes to a Catholic Mass with her friend and Archie is furiously questioning if she converted, he asks her ‘You didn`t eat a cookie?’
I suspect that as the numbers of those needing healing wound down the Beatific Amplitude of the beams began to wane because he had to hold the beam onto the congregation members longer and sometimes had to fire it a second time.
There was one left but his demon was of an unusually virulent sort and wouldn't let go. The supplicant approached the dais but the Holy man was exhausted and having trouble standing. Various Elders and assorted assistants gathered on the stage. Arranged in a semi-circle with their left hands raised, they created an array to gather the Omnipotent Ethers and with their right hands they channeled the power into the Holy mans Capacitors of Divinity.
Renewed, the Holy man sprang up and focusing the Celestial through several hammer blows to the mans forehead he pounded the pernicious passenger from the mans soul.
Id guess now that Ive relayed this, we both know what to do should we ever encounter such a situation.
I know you didn't comment on this but, as there are others reading and as this often comes up, this is the reason I have a problem with those who believe that everything will just get better if we put "a good Christian" in office. These people I was telling the story about were quite convinced that they were Christian and I suppose in the simplest and most narrow definition of "those who believe" they are. Are these really the people who should be making decisions for the rest of us?
Someone will say, "Ya but, I mean someone GOOD from [insert religion]." Mhmmm...each version of Christianity, not to mention other religions, is going to have a problem with some of the teaching of the others. For example, I don't care if Santorum believes he is a "good" Catholic, and I don't care how he manipulates the writings of Aquinas, at no point do taxes become Charity, and at no point does God say its acceptable for half my income to be stolen by government so that half of that can be given to the UN to fund child raping missions in Africa and the other half given to some drug dealing ghetto dwelling deadbeat. (Im not anti-Catholic, I would have supported Buchanan. Then again, he didn't believe he was the arbiter of The Word and didn't say he wanted to make specific beliefs law.)
What Im trying to say firstly is "âOf all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.â â C.S. Lewis
Second, I want to make clear Im not against religion at all. Im just looking for a candidate that understands the distinction that they are a politician of this world, not a prophet of the next. The distinction of that which is Ceasars and uses the guidance of His Kingdom to do what is best for all without attempting to codify in law anything specific to any flavor of Christianity.
Picking a prophet for a politician is foolish. Refusing a to support a politician for not being familiar with a specific churches practices is even more foolish.
There may be many reasons to not support Trump in the mind of an individual but, failure to recognize plates isn't one of them.
What?
As a businessperson frequently on the road, I have made communion gaffes when visiting churches other than my home church all of my adult life.
Have you never visited another church with different customs?
Hahaha yes but this is a Freudian slip of magnitude!
Buying his way everywhere.
Do you agree that Ted Cruz is creepy for practicing his faith? And that Donald Trump is honorable for not practicing the faith he proclaims?
Is it not best that Christians just shut up and go along to get along? That Christians should not reference Scripture in the open marketplace?
Oh please. It’s hilarious.
If Cruz had done it, can you even imagine? FR would have buckled under the weight of hateful posts.
As a cruzer, I find this hilarious. Does it really matter? No. But we can all have a good laugh.
And if just need to preach agape, well there’s a huge lack of that in the Trump camp as well.
One of the churches I've attended over the years insists on tearing hunks off of a loaf. Others say every crumb that falls on the floor from a consecrated loaf is an affront to God and will only use individual pressed wafers.
I've been in churches where a tiny plastic cup of grape juice was sealed with aluminum foil and the wafer on top of it, sealed by another layer of aluminum foil. It was a megachurch, and this worked for them. No patens involved. Bit of a mess on like "popcorn boxes on the theater floor" afterwards, but whatever. On the other hand, the sound of everyone in a huge congregation taking a small swig at one time -- swish! -- was rather breathtaking and moving.
