Trust Ted? Cruz Facing Growing Attacks on Credibility
ABC ^ | 1/31/2016 | STEVE PEOPLES AND SCOTT BAUER

Ted Cruz needs you to trust him.

Trust is the cornerstone of this fiery conservative's campaign, which may live or die with his ability to convince voters in Iowa and across the nation that he's the most consistent and trustworthy among the pack of White House hopefuls.

Yet as he strives for victory in Iowa's Monday caucuses, a chorus of Republican critics led by Florida Sen. Marco Rubio is tearing at the fabric of Cruz's message.

His GOP opponents cite a history of political opportunism they say is more in line with a used car salesman than the "consistent conservative" he claims to be. In debates, TV ads and on the campaign trail, fellow Republicans are highlighting inconsistencies in Cruz's policies on immigration, foreign policy and even his dedication to Christian conservative values. They're also reminding voters that the self-described outsider is an Ivy League-educated lawyer who served in former President George W. Bush's administration.

"If you are going to campaign as the most principled, the most consistent conservative, then your record better support that," said Rubio's senior strategist Todd Harris. "As long as he holds himself out to be holier than thou on all things conservative, we're going to continue to point out that he's not."

Trump: I am going to take care of everybody. I don’t care if it costs me votes or not. Everybody’s going to be taken care of much better than they’re taken care of now.

Pelley: The uninsured person is going to be taken care of. How? How?

Trump: They’re going to be taken care of. I would make a deal with existing hospitals to take care of people. And, you know what, if this is probably—

Pelley: Make a deal? Who pays for it?

Trump: —the government’s gonna pay for it. But we’re going to save so much money on the other side. But for the most it’s going to be a private plan and people are going to be able to go out and negotiate great plans with lots of different competition with lots of competitors with great companies and they can have their doctors, they can have plans, they can have everything.

How does it feel to be the self appointed factotum on governance: God, or Cruz, speaks to you and you speak to the world. Here is a clue: you’re dense.

if it’s like last year, it really is pretty simple. You sign in, then there is some party business items, then discussion of the candidates if anyone wants to speak for their candidate, then a secret ballot. The ballots are counted and called in. Delegates for the county convention are elected, then everyone goes home. Last year we met in a smaller group closer to home. This year they have us in a bigger town, so should be a lot more people. The storm should be here before it’s done, so we’ll have to drive home in icy/snowy weather about 13 miles.

This entire exchange has been posted in this forum several times. You are not making any ground here. This is what Trump has always said, and it isn't Obamacare, single payer or universal whatever. Can't you freaking read?

Your use of factotum is awkward at best and whether I am dense is not the question. The question is why you are supporting government control of the means, distribution and exchange of healthcare services for large segments of Americans.

That is exactly like our “precinct meetings”, but they are held on the very night of the primary election, in the same building where we voted all day. We have the same procedure for committee business: nominate and vote for a precinct chairman, volunteers for delegates to attend the county convention, and resolutions to take to the county convention for a vote to go or not to go to the state convention for the Party Platform.

No vote for nominee is taken, of course, given we are awaiting returns from our state primary.

Thanks for your reply. Thirteen miles on ice. Yikes! God be with you.

I asked you were Cruz's health plan was...where are the others on a health plan....(crickets)

And the voters mailer was not phony or it wouldn't be up on Drudge nor would the Statement from the Iowa State Attorney letter would have come out...and Cruz himself said he wasn't apologizing for doing it....so what's your point again????

Sure I can read. In several languages. The only Republican candidate expressing admiration for single payer and promising to have the government pay for healthcare for Americans that don’t have it is the New York liberal. And no matter how tight you twist your red diaper nothing is going to change that Mr Meister.

“Why am I responsible for paying the healthcare bills of able bodied men who will not work”

Trump did not say a word about requiring you to pay the healthcare bills for able -bodies men who will not work. I don’t think anyone has.

It is only scatterbrained people who can not focus on what someone says.

“Uncle Josef?”??

No clue.

There is not a person in Washington more trustworthy than Ted Cruz. Frankly no one even close. He alone gave the House conservatives a rallying point to take on the big issues and to take on the failed leadership. This whole thing is sad to see supposed conservatives tear down one of the best in a generation.
