if it’s like last year, it really is pretty simple. You sign in, then there is some party business items, then discussion of the candidates if anyone wants to speak for their candidate, then a secret ballot. The ballots are counted and called in. Delegates for the county convention are elected, then everyone goes home. Last year we met in a smaller group closer to home. This year they have us in a bigger town, so should be a lot more people. The storm should be here before it’s done, so we’ll have to drive home in icy/snowy weather about 13 miles.
That is exactly like our “precinct meetings”, but they are held on the very night of the primary election, in the same building where we voted all day. We have the same procedure for committee business: nominate and vote for a precinct chairman, volunteers for delegates to attend the county convention, and resolutions to take to the county convention for a vote to go or not to go to the state convention for the Party Platform.
No vote for nominee is taken, of course, given we are awaiting returns from our state primary.
