Even if Iowa’s first-in-the-nation Republican caucuses do not always pick the winner, they have been known to derail front-runners. Trump knows this. So does Cruz. So do the pundits. And so do Republicans across the country.
Trump could really use a win in Iowa. If he gets it, along with the wins he has a good shot at securing in the ensuing New Hampshire and South Carolina primaries, he could be well on his way to becoming the Republican nominee.

See Cruz, Haley and Rubio to name a few.
Sarahcuda’s going to Iowa tomorroow all day! starting with the today show at 7AM :)
So the Associated Press doesn’t understand Iowa at all? How surprising.
trump is the key to victory for trump
I think Beck’s support of Cruz is the key to a Trump victory in Iowa.
That was Tina Fey mocking Sarah who said that.
Get your facts straight, AP.
This from a reporter who is probably part of the millions of intellectual and cultural elite that fawn over a Hillary Clinton who seems to have lost 3/4 of her memory and all of her integrity
The stalinesqe public shaming letters are going to be a big help too.
They have not derailed anyone so far ahead in other states as Trump.
Becks endorsement
Poor Cruz debate performance
Insulting mailer
Al keys to depressed Cruz turnout and a Trump win.
She turned the 2008 campaign into the theater-of-the-absurd ???
Wow...
The buying of votes with ethanol pork helps more. It’s the technique used by other liberals election after election.
No affect at all.
But she endorsed McCain (AZ Senate), now Trump.
imho, that's two...disappointing.
You mean after Cruz said he'd get rid of the ethanol mandate and the Governor practically called for his head on a pike? The Governor whose son is an ethanol lobbyist?
Yeah, that might have something to do with it.
Palin also endorsed Cruz in 2012.
In fact, Cruz has given Palin credit for his senate win.
Does that jog your memory Joe?
In thinking about a) why Cruz doesn’t pull in a higher percentage of “conservatives” or “very conservatives” when polled, b) why Trump has a higher % of evangelicals than Cruz it finally dawned on me. (Don’t laugh).
Cruz is a Catholic. Beck is a Mormon.
Now, say what you want but remember the large number of people who resisted Mittens because he was a Mormon, and while it isn’t like it used to be, there are STILL a large # of “evangelicals” who distrust Catholics.
So I was just informed of this today, but regardless of how “devout” one thinks Trump is, he’s in a race with two major competitors (both Catholics, plus, I think, Rubio and Kasich are Catholics). Carson is a Seventh Day Adventist.
Again, say what you want but these ages old biases and preferences don’t disappear easily. Whether one acknowledges it or not, I think there is something to this. Of the top five, Trump is the only Protestant.
I find this even more interesting when you look at the USSC: five Catholics and three Jews. The majority religion in America isn’t represented on the USSC. Just something in passing. . . . .
I just wonder what happened since.
