Donald Trump on Sunday repeatedly slammed his chief presidential rival Sen. Ted Cruz as a "total liar" as the Texas senator and his allies have claimed in the final stretch to the Iowa caucuses that Trump favors government-run, universal health care.
Cruz, meanwhile, pressed forward Sunday with the line of attack, proclaiming: "A vote for Donald Trump is a vote for Obamacare."
"Look, Ted Cruz is a total liar. I am so against Obamacare. I've been saying it for two years in my speeches, I'm going to repeal and replace Obamacare," Trump said on ABC's "This Week." "I don't even know where he gets this."
Trump on Sunday strongly pushed back at Cruz and his allies' claims that he supports government-run, universal health care, noting that he says in nearly each campaign speech he gives that "Obamacare is a total disaster" and that he would "repeal and replace" Obama's signature health care law with something "terrific."

We could say this about the status quo ante Obamacare as well, except that hospitals only had to treat survival cases and then had to eat it.
“Cover everybody” does not come close to giving the whole picture. We have to go back and insist on an answer to “for just what” or we are arguing apple seeds vs. orange peels or something as ludicrously incomparable.
Look. Everybody knows where Hillarycare, or Romneycare, or Obamacare, or Trumpcare, must ultimately lead. Single payer government run medicine.
Exactly. Difference is the apparent claim to “inject competition” into the mix. Notably impossible thing to do in freaking government provided (not contracted— provided) national healthcare. Key point is the support of the corporatist viewpoint— cost shift healthcare onto the backs of the taxpayers— and do it even more than obamaumaocare— which has already failed in exponential magnitude, for which we, the taxpayers are being pushed to increase the damn subsidies (even as we have doubled and tripled our OWN premiums). A racket.. a govt. racket.
And that is STILL better than Obamacare and STILL better than socialized medicine.
I already told you that it’s not ideal, but just allowing insurance to trade across state lines is a big deal. Have you not listened to any of Trump’s rallies? When he talks about Obamacare, that’s the biggest thing on what he wants to replace it with: free market competition w. Medicaid-style welfare.
I don’t like the Medicaid-style welfare, but this plan is nothing at all like you’re claiming it is.
There could well be a system of “choose Caesarcare or some private arrangement.”
Why?
Trump is against Obamacare.
Trump is for Trumpcare. Trumpcare is Universal Healthcare by the government. But it will be great because everything Trump does is great.
That is an accurate repetition of what Trump has said in the recent past.
Got news FRiend. Corporate America, establishment America was in on the outset of obamaumaocare. That is a fact- not drivel. Having actually been there in DC during the entire debacle from Hitlery to Obamaumao... and now Hitlery’s cover. You are quite mistaken as to sour grapes also. Ignorance can be corrected, so there’s hope unless someone stupidly follows something and someone without benefit of facts. Sept. 2015, recorded interview. It’s all over Youtube, and has been. Oops.
Almost anything would have to be better than Obamacare. Even Trumpcare.
It appears Cruz taught his followers well. Luckily the voters see though Ted’s deceit.
Yeah it was, being told by Democrats that this would be a pot of jam. Now they are finding it is just a jam.
“Everybody knows” is almost always a lie. It’s a staple of leftist propaganda.
You don’t need private competition in a single payer plan.
How so? How is it different?
Remember before Obamacare was forced on us- We had great, (not perfect), healthcare-far better than any place where "everybody is covered" and "the government" pays for it.
And the government controlling healthcare in the first place, is a bad idea-Gives government ultimate control over the individual citizen.
Because for a doctor or hospital to collect on the bill, they will now have to deal with as many different insurance companies and their State insurance commissioners and regulations as their patients hail from. You think they have paperwork now, you ain’t seen nothin’ yet.
If you really need me to answer that question for you, it’s not worth the time spent composing it.
And it works if you find you need a heart bypass in October of any given year, and you then learn that your hospital closes the last three months of each year. So you book a flight to Orlando, to have Canadian certified cardios do a stent or intervention— and they get paid by Canadian health. What a wonderful set up. Well known in Central FL/Kissimmee area.
And Cruz is STILL better than Trump on this and on most all issues. Why settle for Trump when there’s a much better candidate in the race?
There could be things like “single premium payer” but where the premium goes is still an option... kind of a school voucher mentality.
Though I’d sooner get the government out and get genuine charities into it.
Don’t see how any reasonable person can dispute Cruz’ allegation.
Trump was for Obamacare before he was against it.
