Regardless if they were set up or not, he should not have reached into his jacket like he did. That action allowed the authorities to shoot him.
Enhanced video shows the LE on the right next to the truck, firing, and then turning away. The first hit was probably to his left side causing him to grab at it. ALL his pics show a hip holster on his right hip. Then he was shot by the LE on his right, filled by the guy on his left. This is why the LE will not explaining how many hits, and where the exit wounds are... But believe what you want. I just call it like I see it on film. Notice how some of the video screen is blocked out too.
Of course the LE”s witness driver in the other car turns out to be a lier. Watch how many turns in the road from where both vehicles were originally stopped, and then where the shooting accrued. Quite a distance with numerous ends in the road....he didn’t see $hit.
I watched the video. His first action should have been to stay in the vehicle. His second action, if told to leave the vehicle would have been to do it slowly, with his hands in the air. He did have his hands up briefly but he was also running. I don’t know what he was being told or when the first shots were fired, but from the video I see him provoking the LEA to shoot him. I see it as a justified shooting.
I sympathize with their cause against the government land stealing but LaVoy caused his own death. He could have surrendered peacefully and had a voice in court. Now, he’s dead and I for one, don’t see him as a martyr.
There were a lot of things that he should not have done prior to reaching into his jacket.
He should not have driven off.
He should not told the world that he would rather die than give up.
He should not have participated in taking over the govt building.
He should not have participated in Cliven Bundy's armed confrontation.
He should not have hanging out with the Bundys.
It’s not explosive. It’s wrong. Video shows otherwise as does the testimony of two others in other vehicles.
He charged the cops with his hand looking like it was poised togo for a weapon.
Cox is quoted at OregonLive as saying that he was shot in the wrist unprovoked at the first stop.
